That's not how recalls work. I like my shifter and don't want it swapped out with a different one.

Re: 2014 - 15 Shifter Recall - Update

I would choose the newer shifter over a software update, if given the choice.

As someone that has the new shifter, I'd feel the same way.

2014 - 15 Shifter Recall - Update

They are being cheap. If the shifter wasn't a problem there wouldn't have been so many posts about it even before the recall. If given the choice I'd gladly have the new shifter installed. The shifter is flawed a FCA knew it. That's why the 16's got a whole new one and not this band-aid software update. FCA took the cheap road not the high road.

Re: 2014 - 15 Shifter Recall - Update

It's user error --- they gotta make it idiot proof now given the distracted drivers out there. LOL And the legal environment too.

As evidence that this stuff happens regardless of the shifter --- see this youtube video (Honda CR-V, not a JGC) posted on August 11, 2016 (tough elderly lady for sure, even if a tad careless). If ONLY she had a JGC with the capless fuel tank it wouldn't have happened and she would only need to worry about what gear she was in!

Also with the new update the jeep would have auto parked when her seatbelt came off and door opened!

Re: 2014 - 15 Shifter Recall - Update

I have a 2014 Summit and had the recall performed last week. I used the air suspension for the first time today. The EVIC used to say "RAISING" or "LOWERING". Now, there is an icon that displays with a up or down arrow. Wish they had updated the audio screen to actually display the audio information instead of just the source name.

I have that icon when it raises and lowers. No recall applied on mine.

Exactly, thats what shows now in mine, before I had the same "raising" or "lowering"...after the update I have the icon mentioned.
