Re: 2014 - 15 Shifter Recall - Update

Finally had this update done earlier this week. Everything works perfectly. Glad it's done! Still not sure why initial appointment (see initial post) was canceled.

Got this done yesterday after dropping mine off for a different warranty repair. So far so good, haven't lowered or raised it yet.

Try it again, this time with you seat belt off. Also, if you shut it off in any gear, is should automatically go into park.

2014 - 15 Shifter Recall - Update

I was just in this past Friday for an oil change and my dealer didn't mention it at all.

Re: 2014 - 15 Shifter Recall - Update

Got mine done a couple days ago. I'm glad to have it done, but for some reason they didn't do the Siri update and I had to battle with the service writer to prove my SRT has the wrong dipstick in it. He even tried schooling me as to how to properly read a dipstick. I've been changing my own oil for almost thirty years. I think I've got it. Stupid encounter over what's probably a $20 dipstick. Worst part is they have to order the right one and I get to go back and pick it up. I should just order one.

for the dipstick, the $17 dollars that amazon will drop it on your front porch a day or two later was well worth the wasted time and trips and frustration with a dealer. be nice to just be able to mention it to them when you are there for something else and walk out with it but the stars would never align for something like that for me. a couple of clicks and done

What really gets me is I mentioned the dipstick bulletin over a week ago when is scheduled the appointment so that they could just have it in stock when I brought my Jeep in. Silly me what was I thinking. I think I'm just going to order it and save myself the two hours of driving back and forth and god knows they probably can't just hand me the FN dipstick, I'll need a technician to install it. Ugh.

Re: 2014 - 15 Shifter Recall - Update

Hey guys.. Noob here but been trolling this board since picking up a new to me '14 Overland (Love'in in btw). So I got the shifter recall done last week and it's a nice little up date, not like I had any issues putting it into Park before anyway. However, how the heck do you put the vehicle into Neutral and have it stay there? Everytime I leave it in N, foot of break, seat belt off, it goes into Park. Just thinking ahead, what if something happens and I need to push the vehicle?

What you will need to do is either leave the seat belt hooked up or pull the release handle located in the center console

Re: 2014 - 15 Shifter Recall - Update

Getting the shifter recall done this coming Tuesday. Service manager said I'd get a loaner because the update can take quite a while. I know they've done a lot of these recalls, because it's a high volume dealer. Hoping they don't run into any problems. I'll post after the recall with what I hope is good news.
