Nice writeup and thanks much for it... sorry about the chip in the window but at least you have your first "personalization" accomplished! It's yours for sure now!

Better than bumping the pointy-end of a canoe into your door panel while hoisting up onto the roof rack! D'oh! That's my dent, and I'm proud of it!

If you're talking simply gear to gear (in other words, is there a lag) it's really seamless, generally speaking. No lag or loss of power I've sensed, which you typically notice at lower speed and lower gears in many other cars.

If you're asking about how quickly does it move through gears as you accelerate, i'd say this varies substantially based on whether you're in ECO (it bangs through the gears quickly... this morning I was in 5th gear at 23 mph). In sport, it's much more delayed. Goes well into the powerband for each gear. If you really give it gas in the sport mode, it'll take RPMs up quite high (3000+ before shifting). If you're more modest with the gas in sport mode, it goes to 2200-2400 before shifting.

Will try to get some pics taken this weekend. It's been a hectic work week for me, and I just haven't been able to do this week.

As my neighbor said, it's now officially a used car.

Congrats on the 14.. Enjoy it.. I have a 13 Max Steel/Beige combo, I did a factory order and never actually saw the color combo in person.. I was worried the whole time waiting for the order if I made a mistake.. I was worried the Max Steel would look grayish, wich wouldnt look good with Beige.. But the combo looks awesome.. The 2 colors really go well together, I dont get a grayish look from the Max Steel at all, its a nice metallic blue that goes well with the Beige. Good luck and enjoy.

Re: 2014 first 100 miles - impressions so far

Question for you, how does the steering "feel"? I have a JGC 13 and a X5 that I change between a few times a week (X5 is wifes ride). The X5's steering feels precise (not like a 911) for its class whereas the JGC feels like absolutely nothing. I can't get any feel from the tires, road, suspension etc. Is it any different in the 14? I had a JGC 11 (WK2) and I believe it had hydrolic steering, so I never complained about that, but the 13 has an horrible feel to it. To a degree that I'm not considering the upgrade to the 14's if its the same, which would be a shame since I love the JGC looks and capability. a 14 would be my 4th. any insights would be great.

[QUOTE=mputnik;770507]Question for you, how does the steering "feel"? [QUOTE]

So I only test drove a 13 once, and that was awhile ago, so a relative comparison is tricky. My last vehicle was a Mustang, which had highly responsive R&P steering. I will say that the '14 is less responsive than the Ford. To be honest, it hasn't bothered me to this point. I've made several pothole avoiding jerks, and no problem. If the feel of the steering is a potential deal breaker, no doubt you should test drive it. It is a diff feel than straight R&P steering.

Honestly, the thing that is the only marginal annoyance are where the padels are placed. I accidently bumped them once. The thickness of the steering wheel (given that it has the heating element) is also something that I just need to get used to... But the overall steering responsiveness has been good.

I will also say that I'm pleasantly surprised on the turning radius. Again, coming from a Mustang, I thought it'd a huge difference. I've been able to pull off some turns that I would not have initially expected to make with a larger vehicle. Not sure how it compares to others in this class, but it felt like it makes tighter turns than my in-law's highlander.

Thanks for your thoughts! Sounds like you are enjoying your new ride. Bummer on the windshield crack, however...that really bites.

On the turning radius, it's really noteworthy...I was pleased that my MY12 has such a nice tight turning radius, too, as that's what I was used to.
