Depends on the body shop, all those plastic lower claddings come off for prep and paint so it's all relative.

So how many of you are ordering or have bought your overland with everything except the advanced tech package?

How many of you have taken delivery of your overland and you don't have or didn't order the advanced tech group but it has a V8 and everything else?

My body shop said those can't be painted....the surface is too rough....at least on my 2013 Trailhawk. Is that true? Or have people had them painted with success?

My bodyshop said the same thing. He said a person needs to purchase the smooth parts that are usually available.

I think you can paint them if you rough them up but I can't think they would look all that great plus trying to match the paint on the vehicle would be difficult. At that point , pay the extra money and get the Overland and be done with it.

Yeah the textured finish on the cladding could be an issue when painting with regard to the paint staying on long term, the white paint shouldn't be an issue. Sno you ordered a fully loaded limited correct?

Re: 2014 fully loaded limited or overland?

Good thread. I was also debating between the fully loaded limited or the overland. This thread answered the questions I had.

For me, I want the Advanced Tech and ORA-II, and the CRD so the price difference ends up being

Limited: 50,880
Overland: 54,180
diff: 3,300

And best I can tell (and seems to be confirmed by this thread), the only differences between the two are:

Functionally, the Overland has:
- power folding mirrors
- ambient lighting
- puddle lamps

Cosmetically:
- chrome tow hooks on Overland (I think the ORA-II on the limited will still have tow hooks, but won't be chrome)
- front grill different
- black body trim on Limited, body-colored on Overland
- leather dash
- wood on steering wheel for Overland
- nicer wood trim on Overland

Functionally, the power folding mirrors might be nice but not $3.3K nice.

Cosmetically, I'm actually not a fan of the wood on the steering weel; the black body trim seems like it'll hold up better than the body-colored; while I like the look of the chrome tow hooks better, I'm actually trying to reduce the amounts of chrome due to rust concerns being next to the ocean; and I'm basically neutral on the leather dash and wood trim.

And as for the resale value ... well - in the last 26 years I've only bought 2 cars/SUVs, and I still own both of them. So resale is not that big of a concern. I drive them until the wheels fall off or I fall through the floor boards.

So for me, the loaded Limited seems like the right choice.

I'm looking at:

Limited 4x4, CRD, Lux-II, ORA-II, Advanced Tech, 8.4AN. I want the light frost interior, but I'm torn between the white and the cherry red for the exterior. Originally I was pretty set on the white (I like that it stays cooler in this CA sun), but after seeing the red in person I'm starting to lean that way. I guess I can just make use of the remote start to get the car cooling before I get in.
