But you can look at it one other way - a fully optioned Limited is not only cheaper than an Overland but it really is pretty much decked out as a Summit. Most of the upgrades consist of just 3 packages: Luxury; ORA II and Technology. Sure you may get more interior color choices with Summit but you are getting into aesthetics not functions. If you like black interiors, and function over aesthetics, there is only a one way ticket here.
What kind of lights would you out on a limited without the lux group ? Would you do a full xenon HID kit in the OEM enclosure ?

A few years ago I bought a kit from Xenon Depot for my Subaru Legacy. The Legacy already had superior headlight optics (projector headlights). It was a simple plug and play job (bulbs, ballasts, battery harness) - but that doesn't mean you do not need mechanical aptitude. Critics say they blind incoming traffic, they look off-colored etc. It all depends what you get - I got the 4000 K lights, I re-aligned my headlights afterwards and that was it. Never got flashed on the road. 3 years later a bulb burnt, got replacement bulbs - done.

Re: 2014 fully loaded limited or overland?

Ordered an Overland on Friday after ummming and ahhhing over this. The clincher was the folding mirrors as the garage is tight and no black plastic moldings which I hate on a AUD$65k-75k car. Billet Silver CRD Overland, here I come

Been stated already but when you go to sell it 2-3 years (assume you keep it that long ) you will be trying to sell a Limited for a similar price to an Overland in the used market. People shopping for a used limited will be shopping in a different price bracket and yours will look expensive to the point people won't even open the ad. People with the money you want will be shopping for used Overlands and won't even look at Limiteds.
It's a no brainer if the difference is so small just go the Overland. Cars are always going to lose money all you can do is control how much you lose.. The limited will lose more as all the add-ons will just depreciate much faster.

I have the opposite opinion on the black lower cladding. I liked it in the '11 to '13 WK2 and think it reduces the visual mass of the truck especially in light colors like white, etc. I rather have a loaded limited over an overland unless it was a max steel or black for this reason.

As for resale value between a loaded limited or overland, it really depends on how long you keep the vehicle. If you are selling it within 5 years, I could see it being a factor. After 5 years, new body styles and changing model designations and packages dilute the issue.

Good luck on a your purchase. I am ordering mine in June.

I agree, resale difference between the two really depends upon how long your going to keep your vehicle. Personally I'd rather keep the $5,000 difference in my pocket now rather than hope to recoup some of it in 6+ years.

CRD Limited
RA4, Adv Tech, Lux 2, Max Steel

Just out of curiosity, have you compared use prices of Overland-Limited on the various websites? Or, are you repeating what car sales people tell you? BTW, not to take any jabs at Pat, the trade-in price is determined as much by the dealers used inventory and local demand as far as where in the spread your trade-in price will fall.

From my own experience, my GC was the only car I've sold that sold in 2 days for full asking price (which was top of the spread). I tried and tried to sell a GTI for 2 months while I waited for an ordered car. Right before the car came in, a sister VW dealership offered top dollar as a cross-trade in, simply because they had a customer looking for my exact model.

Re: 2014 fully loaded limited or overland?

Try as I might, I just can't come up with a list of features that I want that would bring a semi-loaded Limited close enough in price to an overland to make it make sense to me. I know an overland would sell for more, but not for $3000-4000 more.
