By the time you load up a limited you darn near have an overland except for some actual key differences...personal preferences rule..life is short..live a little because tomorrow isn't promised. I have a fully loaded 2004 stone white limited/V8 now with no black cladding..time to spoil myself

I agree with SJTampa. I saw the billet silver JGC Limited at the Detroit Auto Show in January, and that is the trim level and color I think I will order when CRD diesel banks open up next month. The black trim with the silver body color looks really well-matched, IMO! And I am betting that the black vinyl trim along the wheel wells will be easier to maintain against rock chips than will be the case with the painted metal trim on the Overlands/Summits.

It's all personal preference and aesthetics, of course, and that's good.

P.S. I have a WJ Overland that I love...so, it's not that I don't understand the attraction of higher trim levels in general. I can do without the embossed "Overland" logo on the WK2 seats, however...

Correct me if I'm wrong here...the Overland seats are both heated and cooled and a Limited with Lux II is the same or are the heated only?

Both are ventilated ... not really cooled ... just fans in the seats.

Re: 2014 fully loaded limited or overland?

I went to the dealer today and looked over the new 2014 Overlands and Limiteds. Beautiful vehicle. I really like the Overland much better with all of the extra niceties: the wood trim and leather dash and leather at the top of the doors above the wood trim, the headlights, the inner honeycomb mesh in the grille, chrome tow hooks, and the lower exterior painted fascias and rocker panels. Really nice looking vehicle. I really like the new front end. I don't like chrome mirror covers or the new taillights and the chrome around the taillights but those could be replaced with mirror covers from a Laredo and tail lights from an SRT.

When looking to lease the limited has a 6-8% higher residual than an Overland. The Limited fully loaded is still 3-4k cheaper so once that has depreciated the Limited will always be cheaper than an Overland even resale value. It's all personal preference, but the vinyl in the wheel wells while tacky, is cheaper to maintain than painted trim. Who knows I am torn I am getting closer to finding a Lux2 Limited so we'll see when it comes it how it looks v an Overland.

Re: 2014 fully loaded limited or overland?

Not that you asked me, but so far I am a fan of Limited with Lux. pkg. As nice as they are, it would difficult for me to rationalize paying for leather dash, etc and chrome recovery hooks. And I really do not need to worry about air shocks.

I think something is being lost here, as the original issue is that the QL is not wanted. I too am very apprehensive about the QL for longevity, as well as aftermarket options. I am looking at doing the full option thing on a Limited as well for these exact reasons.

That's what an extended warranty is for,you don't have to buy it at the purchase time you can wait right up until Italy's close to the 3 years or 30000 miles, then buy it after shopping around at various dealers. By the time you load up a limited, you darn near have the overland...life's short..live a little.
