Fun, green, healthy. I've posted this before, but just had to again.

I got the V8 over the V6 for two reasons - my last two cars were V6 and I wanted to enjoy a V8 before they become luxury items, and it seems that the majority of Summits in this area being sold are V8, so for resale it may be more appropriate. I am a relatively diehard environmentalist at heart (even though a subgroup have ruined that label), and am a petroleum engineer. Without hijacking this thread into politics, I believe we should do all we can to conserve oil for its most important uses... And I am being hypocritical here, but I love my V8 even though I dislike the fuel economy, and never test drove the V6. IMHO, the various engines all have their pros and cons and we will never agree on the 'best', but it is fun to read what everyone's thoughts are!

If the diesel had been available from launch, there is a good chance I would have been in it now, but I don't regret my V8.

I have a better lesson. Make more money....or settle. Retirement isn't that far away but I'll be damned if I accept my current cash flow as the endgame, and settle. Which it sounds like you have...making money is the easy part, figuring out how to spend it to help yourself and the ones you love get the most out of life is the real challenge. And the jeeps for my wife. She chose the v8 over the 6 because she "enjoyed" driving it more, it's more "fun". Guess that's why I love her.

A better lesson is to do both. The savings strategy works even better when you make more.

My math might be a little shaky, i haven't slept in three days. If my gc doesn't arrive soon, i might go full-on john belushi.

Maybe you should find a good woman instead.

Why, so I can spend twice that amount of money per week?

So I don't see a handling advantage for the V8...if anything the V6 would be better in the turns since it weighs less.

Compaired to an SUV, real "Fun" is obtained driving one of these around the track...

When the new WRX body style came out, I HATED it but now it has grown so much on me that I am regularly tempted to trade my Legacy GT in. But with a TD05-16G turbo; STI front diff (GC body Rev. VI); ACT-HD clutch and ACT-LWFW it is a fun car that still keeps me satisfied. I laugh every time I see people claiming they need a V8 in their Limited/Overland Jeep because the V6 feels slow - even though they have no intentions to tow anything - and they worry about merging on the interstate.

Re: 2014 GC 3.6L V6 enough?

Agree but prefer something like a V6 Fiero for Deals Gap. Have no roblem merging and ususally wind up going faaster than intended, is mainly a matter of being in the right gear when kicked.

Have said before the best use for a WK2 is to tow something that is fast comfortably.
