Re: 2014 GC 3.6L V6 enough?

I just went from a 519RWHP Camaro SS to the 2014 3.6L GC Laredo.. No complaints here. I'm honestly impressed with how much power the V6 has.. I'm saying the 8 speed transmission is why it seems powerful.

I had 2011 Durango citadel awd and now have a 2014 summit... Both with 3.6 and very happy with it. Lots of power, easy to pass people and great on gas. Chrysler did good with the pentastar. I have a small utility trailer I used with both vehicles as well and it even does well with that fully loaded. If you do a lot of towing, eg a boat or small camper maybe, you might want to look at the hemi, but the extra price and fuel econ didnt make sense for me.

Re: 2014 GC 3.6L V6 enough?

"2014 3.6L GC Laredo" - think that is the key. If the WK2 is under 5,000 then the 3.6 is fine. OTOH if over 5,000 (pounds, altitiude, towing) and the sound though a Borla exhaust of an iron block pushrod V8 breathing through a K&N intake is what you crave then the Hemi is abetter choice.

This may be why the diesel is being held up, how many people are willing to pay $7000+ extra for GALB tow car instead of a crew cab.

Re: 2014 GC 3.6L V6 enough?

A fully loaded Limited, most overland, summits make it to 5000 lbs. The v8 adds 200 lbs over the V8; the diesel adds 400 lbs over the V6. Skid plates, towing pkg, giant moon roof, Quadra trac 2; air suspension adds another 110 lbs to 300 lbs if not more. The lightest is the base Laredo.

Don't forget also that any 4x4 will be heavier than its 4x2 counterpart.

Re: 2014 GC 3.6L V6 enough?

We went from a 2004 JGC Limited 4x4 with the 4.7L HO engine to a 2014 Summit 4x2 with the 3.6L. We always liked the acceleration of the 4.7L HO unit and test drove a 5.7L. We're older and more sedate drivers than we were 10 years ago and were looking more for luxury than outright speed. I am very happy with the 3.6L. We spent 10 days with a rental 3.6L JGC in SoCal on a recent vacation and it had plenty of power in every situation. We went with a 4x2 because we've never taken our Jeeps off-road and we now live in Southwest Florida where there is just no need for 4x4. I think the 4x2 3.6L is a very balanced ride; it rides, handles and accelerates beautifully.
