Re: 2014 GC gas mileage 3.6L

With just under 9000 miles on my Limited, I avg just about 20mpg (even with me hammering on it for fire calls). On highway, it is around 23-24mpg, city around 15-16. Now that winter is here, I know it will take a hit but it is still better than my 08 TB I had.

City around 15-16, I would think you'd get a little better. I guess when you say city you mean heavy stop and go traffic. City driving for me is 40 - 45 mph and stopping regularly for traffic lights.

I get 26 MPG easy at 65MPH, often get 28 MPG. I never get less than 20 MPG, even in the city.

It's dropped a couple MPG in the winter.

But I run my tires 40 Lbs cold (instead of recommended 36 Lbs). This helps quite a bit on MPG.

My guess is if I went 75MPH I'd drop about another 2 MPG.

Since you are 2WD, I think your goal might be in reach of 25MPG at 75 MPH.

I just started a thread on tire pressures. You might want to read it.

It is controversial, but I'm not talking about much. Been doing it for the last 5 years on 2 cars and I have only seen positive results.

With the TPMS system you can keep a good eye on pressures, which was not available a few years ago.

YMMV

Re: 2014 GC gas mileage 3.6L

I've got a 2011 Hemi Grand, and long round-trip highway runs I never see under 22mpg at 65mph cruise speeds. My 2012 Wrangler with the Penta/5spd can do 24mpg all day at ~65mpg and that's quite the brick to push. These figures are with no headwinds, cruise control on and light traffic. I'd expect the Penta Grands to easily get 25-26mpg highway under the same condition. Without cruise control my mileage drops a few points.

8,500 miles on my '14 Overland V6. Averaging about 15.5mpg city. And city is pretty much all I do. I hit the freeway maybe once every two weeks.

Re: 2014 GC gas mileage 3.6L

Its interesting to hear that the 8spd tranny did basically nothing for fuel economy. Actually kind of surprising as you would have thought it would. Does Jeep even claim an increase or no?

I believe Jeep claims a 1mpg increase with the 8sp. I'd say the biggest improvement with the 8sp is the acceleration. Car and driver had a 0-60 (quarter mile) time for the
2011 V6 @ 8.1 sec (16.3@87) vs a
2014 V6 @ 7.5 sec (15.7@90).

Re: 2014 GC gas mileage 3.6L

I don't have a ton of data yet, only 750 miles on my '14 Limited. Around town and my normal commute, I'm averaging about 18-19. Took a trip from Clev to Columbus and back with the Jeep loaded up with 2 co-workers and all our gear, plus work stuff, and averaged 22.5 with the cruise set to 73-74. That stretch down 71 has plenty of little up/down hills, so it's not exactly flat.
Plus, being cold and snowy, I've used the remote start several times at work (lunch and leaving). So that's not helping my mpg's.

I had a 2003 Liberty prior to this, and it averaged about 16-17 around town, and would see 19-20 on the highway.

Re: 2014 GC gas mileage 3.6L

Have a 2014 Laredo getting about the same gas mileage as you guys seem to be getting, however, I have been turning the eco mode off. I can't stand how awful the car drives with it on. It is so laggy and the transmission is very clicky or snappy with it on, it is not smooth transitions between shifts. Turning Eco Mode off and turning traction control off makes it much more nicer and smoother to drive

How many Transmission updates have you had? How does turning the traction control off make the drive smoother?...
