Sorry to that EMS-it's cases like this that tarnishes our Domestic automakers-a brand new car should NOT have a list of issues as long as yours. It just should not happen with the advances today(albeit a double edged sword). I agree that it needs to be escalated up in the chain. Not that you will bad mouth the brand, but current an future owners(like myself) do not like to hear about the service being provided, of lack thereof. Good luck

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Already put up a short review on this thread, but would like to add a few things now that I'm getting a few miles on my Jeep. Went on a little road trip this morning and took some back roads to test out the nav, and have to say I'm pretty happy with it. I particularly like the 7" screen's showing an abbreviated nav map when coming up on turns. I do have a bit of a complaint though. Really the first thing that's really bugged me much. In bright sunlight the stitching on my dash (black Overland interior with white stitching) reflects off the windshield and is somewhat distracting. I'll have to see how this plays out, and if I get used to it, and don't notice it anymore. Other than that no real issues so far.

Jack,

The stitching is a bit of a shocker at first. Now I only notice it when stopped at a light. When driving I just seem to focus past it. I guess it's similar to having a heads up display. You can place your attention where it needs to be.

I seldom leave the big screen on when I'm driving. Between the lady in the dash and the turns popping up right in front of me, I'm good to go.

Lawyer up. Seriously. That's the only way you'll get a buyback in this case.

Glad to wait to order as these problems keep arising on the 14's.

Thanks Bill, you're probably right about getting used to it, and it disappearing. I've had cars with head up display, and that is what happened. Only seem to notice it in very bright sunlight, something that's pretty rare where I live!

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Best vehicle I've ever had. I haven't even hit 500 miles yet, but the smile is still there and I don't know what will take it away.

Since you want detailed though:
Cons:
- Exhaust tips misaligned from the factory (easy fix by the dealer).
- 2 of the plastic "shields" in front of the rear fender wells have bubbles with dirt under them (dealer is replacing them)
- UConnect isn't quick to process/recognize voice commands. This is my only real complaint with the vehicle. I say this because I tested the UConnect in the 300 and the Charger and they were lightning fast. I could literally hit the phone button and say "Call Jessica mobile" and it would ring her in <5 seconds. On the Jeep it is taking a good 10 seconds to process the command.

As Roki said earlier in the thread, S/W development takes time and I know the UConnect engineers/developers are aware of the issues. I am confident that they can fix my major gripe as I've seen it work fine in other vehicles.

Now, on to the Pros:
- SRT, what can I say? I wish I could shake Ralph's hand for getting a vehicle like this built by an American company. One day maybe I can.
- Build quality is excellent. The issue with the plastic shields, I don't really consider a nit on the quality. Fit and finish of panels, the interior, really top notch.
- 8 speed, I'm loving it.
- Seats are amazing. Supportive, comfortable.
- Spider Monkeys - have to say it because so many people hate them. I personally LOVE the spider monkey design with the lines of the WK2 SRT exterior. I am glad they were available as an option.

All in all I would do this again in a heartbeat. There isn't a vehicle that can compare to what you guys have built, and I mean that for most of the trim levels. There are trade-offs with anything, but I haven't found one in my case.

On my previous 2012 Overland, that reflection from the dash stitching in the windshield took me at least 6 months till I kind of got used to it.

I'm glad my 2014 Summit with the black leather dash has black stitching so it doesn't reflect in the windshield.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Traded in my 2011 durango citadel for a 2014 summit about 2 weeks ago. Loved the durango, love the jeep even more. First jeep I have owned too. Chrysler has gotten a bad rap over the years, but my experiences have been very positive (my wife's 2011 C200 however has had tons of problems and she would like to set it on fire, but that's her problem ! ... don't tell her I said that).

Quality overall is very impressive. I work in IT & am VERY anal/picky about things in general, especially things tech related, and have yet to find any real complaints with my summit. I mean it even appears Chrysler went to the ends of sourcing IPS LCD's for the dash & radio, which shows someone in engineering cared. My biggest issue with the durango was the half ass uconnect/alpine/430N audio system it had .. but the new HK/uconnect system in the jeep is superb. It's like chrysler heard my bitching and personally fixed everything. I did very well on trade for the durango, which gives me even more confidence in the product. I think one of the things I like most is that I can remote start car while still at my desk in office & it be heated/cooled by the time I get there.

Beyond tech, cabin is very quiet, ride is very smooth & seats are comfortable. Interior is very high quality in general & well thought out.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

If you guys will try poloraized sunglasses I think you will be happy. The stitching bothers me as well but when I wear my polorized glasses it totally goes away. Now the only reflection bothering me is the A/C vent trim refection on the door window right where the outside mirror view is.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I wouldn't do this, but I bet you could use a sharpie and "black out" all the white stitching... I figure i will get used to it in time.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I have had my 2014 GC for about a month now and I love it. I turned in my 2011 V6 GC and I can say this one is much improved. The 8 speed trans is just what was missing in the previous GC. Quicker starts and smoother shifts. It ride smoother and the sound system is much improved.
