Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Obviously, neither is STAR. I have been waiting since yesterday for them to get back in touch with my dealer. they must know about all the problems we are having, and just want us to sweat it out. Hope they can get mine working again. I'm losing faith by the hour.

If that many people are having problems that the dealer can't figure out on their own, then it's take a ticket and wait your turn. If they actually have to duplicate the problem in order to solve it, that could take time.

In the mean time, you are lucky to have JG as a place to vent. we do all feel your pain.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Everything seems to be working fine in my Jeep. I'm still excited about the new car, such an upgrade from the 08 Trailblazer and the 95 GC I was driving. No issues to report at this time. We are taking it to Chicago this weekend for a mini vacation.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

So they are overnighting a new catalytic converter, and they say that should fix all the mechanical issues I was having. Still no news on the electrical issues, they can't duplicate the problem.

Thanks for the responses, and I will keep you all posted. Can't wait to get out of my loaner car and back into my Jeep!

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

STAR never got back to my dealer, go figure it's Friday. So now i will have to wait until next week to continue the saga. Since i've taken delivery, my dealer has had the Jeep almost more than myself. Starting to sound like i ended up with a LEMON. Even if Chrysler has to buy it back, i am still crazy enough to start all over and order a Grand Cherokee Summit. I MISS MY JEEP! Every time i see a black jeep on the road, i am sick. Hope this is over soon.

No sounds from the engine, uconnect is off, AC, everything... the Jeep starts coasting, slowing down, in the middle of the highway. All of a sudden, it roars to life, the whole thing kinda 'bucks' and goes flying forward. At this point, I am almost at the exit for the dealer, about a tenth of a mile away, so I just finish driving it there.

Real glad my wife had the kids last night and not me though.
These are the kinds of things that scare the crap out of me. Our 2014 is the family trip car, and my wife & 5-year-old's daily driver. I was lucky enough to be driving it when it popped out of gear and did the entire power-off thing (I was in the middle of the road, the flashers would not even work -- then it "rebooted" and I started driving again, and it did the same thing). Dealer hopefully fixed everything, but any time the Jeep does something unexpected (radio shut off 30 seconds after I turned the engine off, iPod stutters sometimes, gear selector doesn't always work perfectly which is probably my issue), I'm on high alert, thinking, "oh crap! -- oh, ok,... we're fine. Calm down." Not what I want to be thinking on a new vehicle. I love the damn thing, but it's going to take a few months before it proves to me that it's 100% OK now.

The good news is that in MOST of our cases on these boards (with a few exceptions mentioned above -- and man, I feel for y'all), the dealers have actually been able to FIND the issues and fix them. That means the computers are doing their jobs logging codes and such.

I hope they fix yours to your satisfaction!

And Jefferson North, thanks for being in here. It means a lot. We want these vehicles to be the most awesome, reliable vehicles on the road as much as you do, and we want to recommend them to everyone. So thanks for caring! What you and your colleagues do has a direct result in what we experience!

Cheers!

For you, what did the dealer find and fix? Because with me, they still have it, they still feel like everything is related to the Catalytic converter, and they are still trying to fix everything. Just curious what caused yours to
pop out of gear and do the whole power off thing, to compare.

I miss my jeep.

And I know what you mean about how it will take a while to trust it fully...

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

My thread is over here. Basically, they replaced the ABS module (code indicated it was bad) and the other codes were indicative of a loose ground -- the same issues a bunch of others have experienced. Just a bit down on the first or second page, someone notes where the grounds are. There are a lot of other threads in this WK2 troubleshooting section that mention it too. Hopefully Chrysler will address this soon, as this forum is just a small sampling of the number of GC's they have to be selling. If we've run into it, lots of others must have too.

Yeah, others in this thread mentioned the grounding issues too, so I told the mechanic about it... he is still set on it being related to the other issue though. I read the thread you posted, I should be talking to Chrysler more, I guess, and not just waiting for an update from the dealer.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Definitely. I think it's necessary to have some official record of each issue because the more Chrysler hears about it, the faster they can correct it. ALL 2014 GC's going out should have these ground points checked at the dealer for ones that are in the lots, and then the factory should be double-checking them on the way out if they're not already.

Also, it gives Chrysler a chance to make it good with you for buying a car and then being without it immediately for a week or so because of a defect that should have been caught.

I mean, seriously... driving it off the lot and this happens? Damn.

Mine was tight. I checked it as soon as the Star # was posted. After I had the problem the dealer disconnected the wires and cleaned the surfaces. That was about a week ago and so far all is good. The codes directed them to that Star #.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Ugghhh! Just got off the phone with the dealer. They are working on it today, will replace the catalytic converter. The do not believe the grounding issue has anything to do with my electrical issues, so basically they are calling it a one time "quirky" event. To be fair, the guy was really nice, and it seems like they really are trying to get it fixed, but I am pretty uncomfortable with the notion that i just have to hope the electrical stuff does not happen again.

At least the issue of the engine shutting down while I am driving on a highway should be resolved.
