Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Update on my 2014 Limited V6. Took possession on April 9th so just over a month as my DD with 1500 miles and have yet to have an issue of any type.
Very pleased and hoping it stays this way.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I have not been on for a bit as I was dealing with all the issues with the Overland and hearing others just made me more tenacious to replace the vehicle.
I have finally been told that I am in the buy back program and that Chrysler is going to buy back my Overland and replace it. I did not need a lawyer, just a good dealership Manager to be my advocate with Chrysler. If you guys don't know this, the dealerships are not owned by Chrysler they buy the cars from them but they work for you the customer. That means that your headache is their headache and the more they hit Chrysler with complaints and angry customers the more they get a response (or they loose the customer). As I read these threads I see the recurring issues is dealerships do not have enough experience with the 14s and the Uconnect system is a mess. Unfortunately in February this was the first ones out of the barn and Chrysler was expecting the dealerships to fix small issues that got through inspection. The problem is that some of the issues grew as you had the car and were not seen on the line.
Chrysler is (in my opinion) over their heads with complaints and while some of you have jeeps that are working great, I heard from the dealership that the service department can't keep up. They even tried to order a Uconnect but none were available. I am fortunate that I have a dealership that echoed my frustration and pushed to get a replacement vehicle.
I recommend that you go to the owner of the dealership and show them "jeepgararge" complaints so they too can see the systemic issue. Notice I did not take the money and go get a Range rover or BMW X5. I love the Overland and just want it right, what does that tell you about loyalty!

Good for you, EMS. I will try to take your advice to heart... it just seems like with my mechanical issues, the dealer keeps believing they have it fixed, so there is no need for a buyback. I have said it before, if Chrysler somehow gives me a buyback without having to go through lawyers, lemon laws, etc. I would strongly consider another Jeep. I get a lawyer involved, and out of principle, I would have a hard time getting sticking with Jeep.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Scary stuff, ems... It does seem like Chrysler is in over their head. Maybe that's why they stopped responding to me. After car shopping this weekend, my wife and I are also going to try again with another Jeep. It's like some kind of hypnosis. Strange spell these things have put us under. I guess as always, the dealer is everything. The people in our service department are super nice, and we've genuinely liked everyone we met and we know they just want our Jeep to be a good vehicle, but they have that glassy-eyed deer caught in the headlights look about them.

So we're going to try a new Jeep and a new dealer.

The question is -- with all these issues, how are you planning on making sure you get a good vehicle? Just figure lightning won't strike twice and hope that "this is a minority of people with issues," which contradicts what we all suspect here? Make sure your car is from April/May and hope the first few batches of lemons are past?

My lawyer said I could even have one made. Unfortunately, I don't have another car for my wife to drive while I wait around for that...

Every cell of my body is screaming, "thank god you got out of Chrysler -- run far far away..." Am I stupid for ignoring this?

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I bought a hitch mounted bike rack today. After being 2 years without a car that I could put a rack on, it was nice to get a hitch mount. Threw my bike on the truck, drove out to the trail, got a quick 4 mile ride in (busy day!) and back home... Didn't need to worry about turning around in the dirt shoulder or anything. After my BMW and the kid gloves it needed, this was refreshing.

I really freakin' love this truck. I Just hope it continues to be as trouble free as it's been so far.

KNOCKING ON A BIG ASS BLOCK OF WOOD

I hope that you guys having problems get them cleared up quickly and you get into the vehicle you're hoping for.

Thanks Torifile, I am jealous, but very very happy for you! You are also making me wish I had ordered the v8.

No I think you have been bitten and are cautious. When the new one comes in for me, I am hoping its problem free BUT its really up to the inspection before its on the car carrier. I don't have any guarantee and who knows what happens after 1,000miles.
I guess if you do look at one make sure its a later one, inspect the hell out of it, take it on the highway and test everything including the uconnect (the SD card reading music) will be the tell all. Follow your instincts and walk away if you are not 100% happy. If your sales rep is an idiot move onto someone else or go to the manager for the sale. I have owned over 6 jeeps in three year increments and I always come back. This 2014 really is throwing me for a loop as my 2011 was fantastic.

I can turn it down to 60 and the auto system still won’t kick the AC on even tho it’s hot outside and the air is blowing at my feet and defrost.
Does anyone have an answer for this?

When I use the fob to start the jeep from a distance, it had resumed all the same controls it had when I shut it off. If I started the jeep by pushing the button in the jeep, it did not. -- not sure if that is as intended, but it kinda worked for me.

Even though there are no physical buttons, When you first start the jeep, the opening screen has shortcuts for each of the controls (heated/vented seats, heated steering) so to me, that kinda helps make up for the lack of physical buttons.

Oh, as for the temperature thing: Mine does not act like that... the buttons may be a little slow to respond, but I find adjusting the temp even slightly changed the temperature of the air coming out very quickly. Putting it to 69 made it blow frigid air, and 74 was already getting hot.
