I would really like to know so that I know how to maintain them. Do you use leather or vinyl maintenance products? Which parts in the Summit are real leather and which are synthetic. I only have 1200 miles so difficult to know how the materials will hold up, but everything looks great, well made, and robust.

Its a synthetic-blend.

Actually, it's supposed to be more durable and higher quality than 'real' leather, so I doubt anything you could use on leather would hurt it.

I'm anxious to see how it does after a couple years in comparison to say, a 2013 Summit's interior.

WTH does that mean?

Does the mean it's a joke ?

If not, I understand synthetic but what is it "blend"ed with?

Half synthetic/half leather ? I don't think so.

If I had to guess, I would think the front part of the seat (where you sit is leather) and the sides and back are synthetic.

Maybe that's what CB means by "synthetic-blend".

It was a play on words.. But yes, you're right.. I've heard that both genuine leather, and synthetic fabrics are used.. And again, the parts that are NaturaPlus are supposed to be more durable than the real leather.. Only time will tell.

But either way, those seats sure are comfortable..

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I doubt that any part of my Summit's interior came from an animal. But, it looks great and feels great and if it looks great in 10 years, who cares. My Dad has a 10 year old caddy with leather interior and it looks like crap. And he takes care of it.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Chevy,

2014 Grand Cherokee Limited, V-6, 8.4AN, Black/Black

I've been driving Bronco's for about 25 years ('96 still in my garage) and this is my first Jeep. I bought it a few weeks ago and had to take it back on day 2 because of a check engine light. The dealer found that the "Evap Hose Harness" was not installed at the factory. They were awesome and took care of the problem immediately. Mine also sufferers from the vibration somewhere in the steering column/dashboard. I'm a bit nervous about initial quality, but hopefully I will become more confident in the brand.

On the positive side, the GC looks great, rides nice, and is very quite. I chose this vehicle over a Ford Explorer because it felt more solid during the test drive. Thank you for monitoring this forum and providing a back channel to the factory.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

New day, new problem. Started the Jeep this morning and no 8" screen, no radio, no voice commands, and no compass heading in the instrument cluster, no back up camera, but the rear parking assist still beeped. How am I supposed to turn on my heated seats?

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I bought a 2014 Overland, only bought the ATC option.

1,100 miles over 3 weeks.

Zero complaints, except things I shouldn't complain about.

1. With everything closed, absolutely zero wind noise.
2. I have no sense on the speed of the engine.
Hence, I have no road feel for how fast I'm going.
And when in 8th gear, there is no engine drag when I take my foot off the gas.

I look at the forums to see if there are problems that I didn't know I was experiencing. So far, nothing.

My GC was built more recently, perhaps that accounts for less problems.
(3 weeks ago, m geep had 58 miles on it at the dealer lot. That may or may not be a difference.)

I have both 600 page manuals. I'm about 400 pages into the Operations manual. So many things that you would never think about. For example there are two push buttons on the center knob for the blower. The bottom one is to turn on automatic climate control (don't have to go thru the screen menus).

I think many of the complaints can be solved by knowing the "secret handshake" that is documented <G>.

Been a continous Jeep owner since 78. This seems to be a good one.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

BTW, per the GC segment in....Mega Factories???

They produce 1204 Jeeps a day.
If everyone that has complaints are complaining here...
Seems like a pretty good error rate.

I am definitely looking for a VIN in the 180-200K range or later this time. Unfortunately, for a vehicle identical to mine, that's impossible right now. All the later Limiteds with NAV and sunroof in Granite add the 20" wheels. There are still some locally on dealer lots exactly like mine, but they all have VINs in the 110-120s. Not taking a chance on another one of those.

Continued best wishes for trouble-free operation!

I'm picking up my Limited tomorrow. Was built 5/6 I believe and has a VIN in the 163's
