Good to know. I'm slowly discovering just how unusual my issues with this vehicle are. Seems lots of us are having one issue or another but nothing quite so serious. I can't believe I am basically making my third car payment two weeks from now and I have had the vehicle a total of maybe ten days. So friggin disgusted with Chrysler at this point. They should be ashamed.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

IIRC, the VINs are not chronological so having a higher numbered one doesn't necessarily mean you'll be getting a new build.

Actually, one of the Jefferson North guys confirmed they aren't sequential, but they aren't random either. So VIN ending in 120000 is very likely to have been made quite a bit earlier than a VIN ending in 140000. A VIN ending in 200000 right now is definitely one of the latest ones off the line.

If it helps......my Summit was built on 5/17/13 and should be in this week - it ends in 202XXX.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

AMC I ordered one on 2/11/13 it got built on 3/28/13 then sat in final inspection until the end of april that vin was 140xxx. my dealer found one equipped exactly like the one I ordered thats how I ended up with 119912. so far its been pretty good except for the u-connect. the blue tooth is dropping my wifes phone sometimes & the sirrus radio drops off and I get an acquiring signal message. other than that every thing been working good with no problems. Hope you get yours fixed or replaced good luck.

Thanks for all the VIN info folks. Pretty much confirms what I was told. And @murr, I am confident these Uconnect software issues will be fixed with an update shortly. If I do wind up with a new GC after all this, I can probably expect Uconnect headache or two. That I can tolerate because I know eventually it will be stable.

Highway cruising in this vehicle superb, and I'm getting about 21mpg (80% highway, 20% in town).

My only issue is that it won't download my phone's address book (Samsung S3).

Otherwise, having come from a 2012 Mercedes ML350 I can say that the Summit is in many ways a superior car. And by the way, the Mercedes had a couple of problems that required dealer visits in the first few weeks, while so far the JGC has had none.

Michael
I am also coming from a mercedes benz ML 350 (2009) which was a great vehicle with upgraded HK sound sports package 20" tires and lighting package. However I find my new 2014 Jeep Grand cherokee Overland v8 Hemi a superior overall vehicle with no problems so far. The options I have in the 14 Overland, would easily run over $70,000 on a new ML350. The cool thing about the overland is that it still has some Mercedes built in it's DNA. I am loving it!!

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Could it be that the VINs are sequential when entered in the system but the build date can vary from other factors ?

Over 100,000 in just four months. Is that just WK2s or are other models in the mix ?

Correct.. The cars aren't built sequentially. And yes, that (in part) happens because WDs are mixed in.. That, paired with the changing production schedule for a particular trim, spaces cars out throughout the process that may have started one behind another..
