I have the stock 20's and my ride is very smooth.

The tread is not "aggressive" - pretty plain jane actually - but, with the 4X4, I can't imagine traction being a problem (and I live in the mountains).

I have a 2014 Summit with the 20's and it is perfectly smooth through 80 mph which is the fastest I have gone. No vibration of any sort can be felt.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I just purchased a 2014 Summit this weekend (6/1). The demo vehicle I had Friday night had a stitch coming out of the dash so I requested the vehicle I take home be one of the other 2 they had in stock (a nit I know but hey, it's $48K!!). Turns out the other 2 were at the dock so he picked one up today (Monday) and the emergency brake didn't work. He's going to prep the 3rd car now and I'm waiting to hear that it passed inspection. Makes me real nervous though...I stopped buying American in '89 due to quality issues and this is a leap of faith for me. I hope it's not my last American car. That said, the demo car has been great - no issues and I've been playing with the settings, suspension, config, etc.. quite a bit. After I have it for a few weeks I'll rank it. It's worth noting though that my past cars including BMW, Audi, and even Acura have had electrical/mechanical issues, but at least they stand behind the products with 4 year warranties.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

275 miles - no problems at all - love it.

Took my first mini-road trip today.

The 8 spd transmission is awesome. The only way I can tell it's shifting is to watch the RPM's - It's that smooth.

Got a feeling the gas mileage is going to be just fine (I have the V6). In eco mode today, I was doing 60 on the highway and only turning 1600 RPM's.

Love this car !!!

Hello Everyone....

Just spent a while catching up on this thread from a while back. My two cents....

The 20" wheels are great, the tires are not great but ok. Have had Forteras on a few vehicles, have them on the current Durango. They are noisier than they need to be and harsher than needed as well. I don't need agressive tread so I will go with Michelin Latitude HP to give the wider tread... of course I see others have thier preferences but that is just my personal one.

There is a Thread on the UConnect updates. If your dealer can't provide them they are available via the link below. Restarts etc of the radio seem to be more the fault of apps but phone book sync etc my be corrected in the new version.

UConnect updates available NOW!

Will post an actual review when they can build an actual Diesel !

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

OK, so I've had the Jeep GC Summit for less than a week, but I wanted to share my thoughts. In 2 words...LOVE IT!

I've been looking for months at the MDX, X5, J35, Q7, ML, GL, Explorer, Land Rover, and Range Rover. Most of these cars provide a prestigous badge, luxury features, and great service by the dealer. But, something was lacking for me in each of those vehicles. If I'm going to drop 60K or more on a car it needs to be PERFECT. The X5 was a little spartan, the Merc wasn't sporty, the Range Rover was stupidly expensive, the J35 was underpowered, the MDX was boring (that was my last car), and on and on...even the lure of the other 2014 models wasn't intriguing to me.

Then I started researching the Jeep GC. Online it seemed have everything...electronics, interior/exterior styling, off-road ability, engine options. So, I checked it out last Friday. Since I was mentally ready to spend much more, I went straight to the Overland and test drove the V6 and V8 models. The V6 seemed lazy but when I put it in Sport mode, it snapped to life - plenty of power. My expectations were high though and I wasn't overly impressed with the cabin (at least compared to a Rover), so asked to see the Summit.

Wow. What an upgrade. The 'suede' headliner and the rich brown leather interior give it a Range Rover feel. The stereo upgrade was huge, and the additional features like adaptive headlights, front parksense, and so on iced the cake. My dealer immediately dropped to 48K on the car and gave me a great price on the trade.

Before committing I tried as hard as I could to find faults but couldn't. Noisy ride? Nope. Bad fuel economy? Nope. Not enough power? Nope (and that's the V6). Shortage of tech features? Nope - in fact if they could add satellite imagery to the nav it would have more than any of the other cars I looked at! Prestigious enough...well, maybe not 'prestigious', but Jeep has a mystique and a 'cool factor' all its own. So should I get it and save $15K?? YES! I brought it back Saturday and we closed the deal.

After playing endlessly with the features and putting 150 miles on it I have zero regrets. It's a great car all around, I've had no issues of any kind, and I can't wait for our first road trip. I know others have had issues, but the software version I'm on is 10.15.4 and it's been great. Just wish the AC would come on with remote start...apparently its just the fan.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Yesterday, on the way to drop off the JGC for the 4th time (this time due to warning lights) I was stopped at a traffic light, with the engine stuck doing about 4K rpms, until the whole thing shut down on me.

On the bright side, Jeep Customer care actually seems to be on it, and seems to be figuring out a way to help me. For those who don't know/remember: I had an awful experience with them the first two times I had issues, but they started to improve the third time. This time, they contacted me first, with a game plan on what to do moving forward.

I thought since I complained enough about what was going on previously, it was only right that I also post when they do things the right way.

According to everyone I spoke with, I should find out next Monday what happens next.

Wow,

That is fantastic... I am waiting on one and haven't had the chance to compare the differences. I have a standing agreement to get the summit ordered as soon as available but that was awesome.

BTW you are running the current stable version of the software TMK.

To DaOne..I could've easily written your post...my experiences are almost identical. In the YEARS I spent researching my next SUV, I narrowed the field to 18 cars..went to the local car show in Feb., narrowed it to 3 and decided on the Summit. A month later without even driving one(crazy, huh?) I ordered it. I've had it 3 weeks and love it too. Have only driven about 800 miles so far and had a few small bugs but otherwise it is GREAT!

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Congrats DaOne on your new Jeep.

I came very close to purchasing the Summit but I really liked the indigo/brown interior that was not available in that model. In fact, that interior choice also forced a change in my original exterior choice of the Deep Cherry Red to the Max Steel.

I'm glad to read that you have not had any issues. I am going to the dealer tomorrow for an update to the Uconnect system which will hopefully fix the biggest issues I have been having with my Overland. (While it is annoying to have a non-working ambient light in a brand new car, that is not as bothersome as having your radio randomly reset while you are driving.)

Overall, I really love driving this Jeep and a few technology glitches aren't going to kill that joy. At least, not if they can be remedied with something as simple as a system update. In my BMW coupe, the outside mirrors never worked correctly (resetting to the right position after reversing), the gizmo that is supposed to hand you the seatbelt only does so half of the time, and the clock and some other settings reset to defaults after the car has been sitting idle for a while on a hot day. But driving the car is a blast. Same with this Jeep (in a different way). Maybe because the Uconnect does so much more than just being a radio, the problems with that system are more magnified than the minor issues in my other car but I think these problems can be fixed (based on reports from people here who have the updated software) while the BMW folks were never able to correct the problems.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Thanks all...still loving it!

The no AC/Heat on remote start issue seems to be a software bug and a fix is in the works by Q3 (according to other posts).

Also, the 2014 Acura MDX pricing came out on the website. I configured an MDX Advance with some trim options (trying to make it look somewhat athletic) and the price came to $61K!! That just made me smile Further evidence I made the right decision on the Summit.

Also researching some light-medium off-road trails here in AZ. I'll definitely want to get use of the 4WD abilities. Aside from the Rovers, no other SUV can compare in that area. This Jeep is an all-around winner! Any recommendations on off-road tire/wheel packages?
