Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Almost 700 miles on her now...

...and I have developed the annoying sunroof rattle on the passenger side. Time to scour that thread.

Couple of quick, easy DIY tweaks I took care of last night that I wanted to share.

1. Passenger side rear tail gap to hatch really close. I pulled the tail out (really easy, see the owners manual) and stuffed 3 layers of some adhesive foam gasket tape on the inside top edge of the housing to pad it outward about 3/16". Gap is now even. Took less than 5 minutes. my main concern was, while it was not rubbing, get it dirty and the gap was so tight any dust/dirt in that gap would have lead to scratches on the light grey housing.

2. Front edge of the hood on the passenger side did not line up very well, it was down about 3/16" compared to the drivers side. Once you open the hood, those hood bumpers/stops are actually adjustable. Ended up turning it out about 3/4 of a turn and the hood is now even on both sides. EZ PZ.

These things should have been caught in final inspection but they obviously can't be bothered to take the time and make it right before it even leaves the plant.

I had same issue with passenger side rear tail light. Thought at first it was because there was an excess of sealant on body causing tail light to bulge out, but what it ended up being was one of the studs in the back of the light assembly, wasn't screwed in all the way, which was keeping light from seating properly and causing it to rub on tailgate. Once I screwed stud in the rest of the way, light seated perfectly and gap was proper, so you might want to check that.

Definitely a QA oversight..

Thanks for the tip. The stud on mine needed about 3/4 turn as well.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Well, I can't comment as a MY14 owner, but I can comment as a MY12 owner that is coming up on one year and 18500 miles in a few days...totally satisfied. The only thing I've had to deal with is some quirky things in the 730N that have mostly been mitigated by firmware upgrades...something the "factory" can't be blamed for. Keep up the great work!

(And No, I didn't do the poll because I'm not a MY14 owner)

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Approaching 2000 miles and great so far.

Only issue is a loud squeak that started around 800 miles which seems to be from the pano roof in back seat passenger side. Will get dealer to adjust it when I get time to drop it off for a day.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Just rolled over 1900 miles on my 14 Limited V6. Gave it an "A" in the poll. It's certainly the smoothest, most luxurious vehicle I've ever had. Mileage is above my expectation at 24 (EVIC) for the life of the car. EVIC mileage is about one mpg better than hand calculated over two tanks of gas. Actually mileage is better than my V6 RAV4 even though the Jeep is 1200# heavier and a good bit larger. My last JGC, a 2005 4.7, although smaller and lighter, got 15 mpg.

Everything is perfect except a tiny gap in the lift gate handle trim ( which I never would have seen except for posts here). Dealer fixed it with no hassle. I have a slight (very slight, you have to turn off the radio to hear it) case of V6 rattle. Dealer heard it, noted it on work order, said they would research it on the STAR system. That's all I expected them to do.

All-in-all, very satisfied with both sales and service experiences at St Clair (Mich) Jeep.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I'm thinking I'm just about ready to take the poll...

No major issues and at 1700 miles now. Found one minor paint defect when I waxed it for the first time... Looks to be a few specks of dust in the clear coat layer, about the size of a dime. Though about it and I'm just going to ignore it for now...

And the first time I tried 4 low the jeep freaked out. Followed the manual, transmission in neutral, very slight roll under 3 mph, etc. ended up with a service 4wd, service air suspension, and the red light on by the neutral button on the center console. The jeep was still in 4 high, but thought it was in 4 low. Shut it off, opened and closed the door, tried again while completely stopped, and it worked fine. First use glitch or ??? Not sure.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Just voted - figured I have enough experience under my belt at this point (3100 miles) to make it valid... gave it the solid "Great Vehicle"! Only minor issue was a weird "911 service error" message a couple times that seems to have gone away with a firmware update. Besides that, it's been flawless. Love the looks every day, the interior is gorgeous and quiet, and it's got more capability than I will probably ever need... hoping to keep this one for the long haul.

If I could go back and change my vote, I'd definitely downgrade it. My electrical issues have turned into safety issues and its in the shop for the third time with these last two because of it either not starting, wont stay started, wont shift up or down out if 4th gear or the air suspension going like a roller coaster. I've been very patient and hopefully they get it figured out, or the next time is the magical 3rd time for the lemon law😧

I wonder if the poll could be adjusted to allow downgrading? It would give us a much better sense of the truth of the matter...

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

3 complaints so far on mine. Lower weather stripping on front windshield is popping up, upper portion of interior life gate panel is popping out or uneven and small shake in the steering wheel on hwy speeds above 65 mph.
