As one of the very hard working JNAP UAW workers many folks here find joy in consistently ragging on, I'm very interested in OWNER reviews of their new GC's. We work hard to build a quality product day after day, and although we're not perfect, I'm curious to know how much of that effort has been translated to you all in your purchase(s). There's a lot of negativity out there, and people seem to fish for anything to discredit us and the products we make, but instead of responding individually to the ignorance, I figure a simple review thread is the best way to settle the matter. If you, and I mean those who actually have bought the truck, feel like its a great vehicle and was well worth your money, I'd love to hear about it. And if you think this car is the biggest POS you've ever wasted money on, and will never buy another vehicle "Imported from Detroit" again, I wanna hear that too!

Basically I'm just looking for honest reviews from owners, so that those who may be RESPECTFULLY skeptical, can see for themselves whether or not we deserve their business, as well as how long we will hold the title for the most awarded SUV - EVER! Thx in advance guys and gals!
OK, I'll bite. Juts took delivery of a 2014 GC Summit, 4x4, Hemi, new 8 speed trans, white with brown interior.

Here are my thoughts so far. Overall, I love it.

Awesome to drive. Very solid feeling. Love the interior, but the jury is still out on the suede like headliner. I expected it to be, well suede and it looks more like fleece or pajamas. LOL

Love the adaptive cruise control, amazing. Love the side alerts as well.

On the entertainment..the Uconnect system is great..very easy to use, the nav is top of the line, but there is a slight learning curve. I haven't actually counted the speakers yet and the system is quite nice, but doesn't seem quite 19 speakers nice. Maybe I need to play with the equalizer some more.

I am used to an aftermarket Panasonic nav system. One big difference is that the Jeep system lists the destination in the top line..I am used to seeing the next event, like an exit or something in that spot. This makes me a little nervous because I don't know which route it has chosen. I will study up though. The panasonic did not have nearly the level of detail that this system has. Not even close and the speed limit feature is brilliant, but I had to turn off the lady that kept telling me I was speeding.

One major missing, easy and cheap feature is the ability to collapse the rear seats from the back. Sometimes you n=don't know until you open the rear that you need the extra room. Even a rav 4 has levers you pull and the seats fall forward. Unless there is something I haven't found yet, in the Jeep you must walk around, open the rear doors and lower the seats. It's a little thing but for this level of engineering seems odd to leave that out. Also the cargo cover cannot be stored under the floor. Very strange to have to remove it from the car if you don't want it just laying around. I have had an Audi Allroad and many Toyota SUVs and they all have the ability to store it with the spare tire. Again, a little thing but odd that a 30K jr league SUV has it but not the jeep.

That's all I got for now. I haven't towed anything yet so I'll post again after that.

They are saying my wife's phone isn't compatible with uconnect so we are screwed for that. I'm glad they come out with all of this technology without thinking anything through, her phone worked fine with sync.

Ford has had some issues with sync as well. I also own a fusion and when I had it in the dealer for service the service writer was talking to another customer with a new Taurus and was telling him ford was extending the warranty for those that complained. I also know they have had a ton of complaints with myford touch. My 2011 Fusion doesn't have any of that so I have not had any problems.

My fusion was a 2011 also. I never had any problems with the sync forgetting phones or locking up. I did have one issue right at first where it wouldn't recognize commands but that fixed itself and I never had another problem.

Oh I know, that is why in our service file it is permanently in there not to wash it, ever. We have always washed it ourselves or ran it through the touchless wash, but the dealer keeps using their "scratch o matic" as the service writer calls it. I almost wanted to grad the general manager and show him what their car wash is doing to brand new vehicles but figured he wouldn't care anyways.

These posts are helpful.. I just picked up mine after getting the so called, "touch of class" applied and I noticed swirls marks on the chrome on the doors. I know they weren't there when I took it in. I also thought the seats and other leather looked better before the service. I hate the wet look.

Yes off of Chevy's OP topic, but sharing my experience on the truck washing front: one JG site supporter just started advertising -- Adam's Polishes. When I bought my truck I plowed through a bunch of different sites and theirs had a ton of great videos on dos/don'ts. Ordered some of their stuff and it's worked great. I'm very impressed with their polish and wax -- easy to apply sans machine buffer.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread....

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Good morning! Grand Cherokee Limited, V6 Lux 2,Adv. Tech, Tow Pak, & R4AN. Granite/Beige Blk. Took delivery April20th. 4100 miles. No mechanical or electronic issues. None, yet :-) One very tiny paint flaw in the lower left side rear door. Panel gaps, (including the lift gate), are very good. Panel gaps are consistently within .030. Everything works as advertised. Very happy with the 8speed. Not experiencing any rough gear changes up or down. I mostly drive in ECO, except when pulling the popup, then I use the drive mode per the owners manual. Hand calculated mileage around town 21.5, highway23.5. Trailering 19 (Vermont/NH mountains. Needless to say I'm very happy so far!

I'm scared to post in this thread. I've been largely absent from the forum lately because things have been fine. Sure, there are some rattles but I just ignore them. Aside from that and the service cellular message I got a month ago (and then the other night), it's been great.

Literally just this morning, I was thinking to myself how much I love the truck. It makes me so happy to be able drive anywhere and do pretty much anything. Want to go for a bike ride with the family? Throw on the bike rack and put the kid's bike in the trunk. Want to haul some more retaining wall stones? Throw in the hitch and head over to uhaul to rent a trailer.

6300 miles in about 3.5 months. Great truck. Thumbs up.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I put the big girl though her paces this weekend

Did a trip to Asheville N.C. this weekend to bring my son back down to school. I used the trip to break in the G.C. Took the skyline / blue ridge Pkwy from Virgina all the way to Marion N.C.,speed limits 35 to 45. The big girl felt sure footed and nimble in the mountain twisty, fun to drive. It got dark and foggy near the end, I could not help but think that the adaptive head lights would have come in handy.

The next morning we did a little mild off roading, took her on the Kriesler memorial Hwy. a gravel road that goes from the Linville falls to lake James. I set the suspension to off road 1, off we went, this road was fun but no challenge at all for the G.C. Barring soft sand this is about as extreme as I would need to off road.

The trip home I set the trip computer and filled up with gas. adaptive cruse was set to 65 in Eco mode the whole way. 688 Mi. in total 99% Hwy 27.5 MPG, Man I was impressed.

Well in conclusion after 2000 mile I really love this rig. I have had no issues at all, Have to get used to the voice commands still, worked great in my phone book so far.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I promised a review once I had the issues with my original Jeep resolved. (I will post elsewhere about those issues and the resolution but the brief story, because it is relevant here, is that Chrysler replaced my first one - due to ABS and other issues - with a late-May build of the exact same model. No need to change my signature! I will note that I did not have any issues dealing with Chrysler or ISG and I am, as will be discussed below, very happy with this new vehicle.)

I got the new Jeep on August 6 but not officially until August 16. I was able, at least, to break the Jeep in before it was officially mine and, on August 17, left on a two week driving vacation. We had five of us - three adults and two children - and there were no complaints about comfort at any point on the trip. I had every intention of keeping detailed notes during the drive but that didn't happen (I did say there were two kids in the car, didn't I?) so all of the following is not spot on accurate.

The first part of the trip was driving from New Jersey to Niagara Falls, Canada, with a stop in Corning, NY for the Museum of Glass and at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo for original Buffalo-style chicken wings. This was an approximate 400 mile mostly-highway drive. There was one freeze-up of the Navigation system and an impossible battle with the voice recognition software but everything else was smooth. Averaged close to 21 mpg on this leg of the trip. Could have made it all the way into Canada but stopped for gas in Buffalo in case the wait on the border bridge was going to be long.

After a few days of tooling around the Niagara Falls area, we moved north to Toronto, which meant more traffic and some city driving. Again, everything worked great in the vehicle but gas mileage went down. In part, this may have been due to gas that had 10% ethanol. The Navigation system was the only issue as it made odd choices in the routes it suggested and didn't recognize all addresses.

A few days in Toronto and then it was back to Jersey, going through Syracuse, NY this time. This was about a 480 mile trip and the bridge traffic I worried about but didn't experience getting into Canada came through double on the way out. A two hour trip to get into the US became a four-hour ordeal. The kids charged their iPods in the USB ports and we had the satellite radio and all of that made it better than it could have been. The rest of the trip went fine and I made it all of the way to Northwest NJ before needing to stop for gas.

Back home for a few days doing some city driving and then to upstate NY for a few days doing some country road driving. Overall, approximately 1450 miles and average of 19 mpg (again, with some gas containing 10% ethanol).

Overall general impressions: The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a joy to drive. I did have a few rough shifting issues but no other real problems. My only complaints are with regard to the UConnect system. The Navigation system could be better and not being able to input addresses when moving is a problem when you are driving on the highway and your wife in the passenger seat wants to locate a place to eat in the vicinity. If the voice recognition worked better, this may not be an issue but it doesn't. ( I heard there is a tutorial mode that can make the system learn your voice but I have not tried that yet.) The only other issue is the satellite radio drop-outs. There were long segments of the trip where the radio just kept dropping out. In upstate NY, where I have never had this problem in my BMW, I had to switch to FM just to listen to some music. I am actually considering not signing up with Sirius after the free period is over because the drop outs are so bad.

Otherwise, I am now extremely happy with the Jeep and just wish I had an opportunity to try the off-road features. I will add that the Adaptive Cruise worked like a charm and there was one incident where the Front Collision Warning probably saved me from some major repairs. Now I just need more excuses to drive the Jeep.
