1000 Mile 2014 Summit Owners Report
After 1000 miles, I can report that while we are overall pleased with the vehicle, there are still some items that don't quite work as expected:
1) Homelink: This works.. then it doesn't, then it does..the range to be frank, flat out sucks. My Silverado's built in Homelink has always worked quite well to the point that the door is open fully by the time I turn in the driveway. The jeep works only when we am sitting 10 feet away pointed straight at the door. Doesn't matter how long (or short) the button is pushed. Don't want to hear about radio interference (I am a wireless engineer) and considering my current vehicle works just fine. I do wonder if the windshield itself (wiper sensor, GPS, etc) may be partly to blame in attenuating the signal. It would be interesting to see if those that have issues with this vs. those that don't, have the wiper sensor windshield.
2) Phone Pairing: Another when it works, it is works very well, but occasionally one or both of our phones (Galaxy S3's) won't pair up. Again, not an issue in my Silverado with either phone
3) Remote Hatch: It does take 4 clicks of the remote to open the rear hatch. We just accept it, yet we find that we rarely use it anyway
4) Remote Start: Same A/C issue that others have..hope this gets resolved
*One feature that we do miss is the remote auto down all windows. Considering the price point and the targeted competition, this is disappointing. We knew going in that this feature was not available, but did not realize how much we missed (and used) it in our previous vehicle
..and last but not least...
The Hemi.....I think it is a mistake buying this.
I am afraid that the wife will be getting a rash speeding tickets. You see, she transforms into a totally different person with a sh#t eating grin every time she merges on to the highway ..
