Dicked me around back in October with the first buyback offer wherein they expected me to eat $7800 in mileage fees, had to pull a corporate string I have which directed me to Jill Carter, head of Chrysler Customer Care, and by the first week of December I had a full buyback in line. I went out and found a low-miles 2011 70th Anniversary Edition WK, and bought that, resulting in an auto loan less than 40% of the one I has in the 2014, on a vehicle with a great service history that has thus far proven vastly more reliable.

Mind you, with ALL the crap I went through, this was a long time coming, and I avoided a lawyer throughout the entire process, so I didn't have to pull a prick card.

ORDINARILY, they give you sticker price for your original vehicle, you pay sticker for the new vehicle, which you can either order or purchase from a dealership.

IN MY CASE, they pay off my loan, they give me a check for any upgrades or add-one I've installed, and they give me a check for any money I've paid into my auto loan- I go buy whatever I want from whoever I want.

They let you buy another car at sticker price?? What about if you got a great deal in the first one 5-7% below invoice?? You would be looking for the same on the new one.

Do what I did! Park it against a curb, set the E-brake, then go to bed!
What tranny do you have? Also, could the -6 degree temp have had anything to do with it? A bit scary to think that the cold would cause that kind of problem. I'll have to check my manu date, I bought mine in August too, but haven't had any problems. A couple of odd electronic things, like if you hit an intersection that has a dip low enough, the FCW thinks you've hit something and applies the brakes and makes all kinds of noise, which is startling the first time.

Hope you get a new one. A lemon sucks. Everyone loves to criticize CA for their strict regulation but thanks to their strict lemon law, I got a Ford Explorer bought back in the early 90's. Once it had been in the shop for 30 days, done...never picked it up from the dealership service dept, Ford paid the loan off and refunded me almost a years worth of payments. They also offered me a 0 % loan and invoice price on any car they had. I declined and bought a Mazda I think. Like you sound, I was done with the Explorer and Ford... but I would take that deal on a new Jeep any day. I have no idea how the law works today but might be good to pressure them to give you a great deal.

Yeah.... So I guess you had better hope that you got a good deal the first time around, otherwise you're essentially getting ripped on the second one, in theory.

The thing about it is, figure you bought a new WK early on, so you probably paid more for it, as opposed to buying one now, you'd probably get better incentives, etc. With this in mind, yeah, it's not the best deal.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

Bought a 2014 Limited with Luxury II, Tow, 8.4 w/NAV in November 2013. Wife uses it primarily for trips to town / work 15 miles away but I have been on a couple of 100 mile Sunday drives and just got back from an 800 mile run to Montana and back.

We are marveling at the functionality of Uconnect and Sirius, but this is to be expected after coming from a 1997 JGC with a cassette deck. We have by no means pushed the limits of what the system will do. I guess it's a generational thing....

We now have almost 2K miles on the Jeep and it has been perfect. Aside from a glove box latch that has to be babied in order to open, I would say the assembly of this vehicle and quality control of same was very good. The car was built in July 2013.

We are loving this car so far. Hoping for a repeat of our last Jeep ownership experience, having owned our prior GC for 14 years. And it was still running like a top when we sold it.

As for the temperature, with the way this thing is going, who knows, could be because I'm facing Southeast.

Re: 2014 GC OWNER'S Review

I have an 11 GC, my wife just traded a 13 Hemi for a 14 diesel. My father has a 13 SRT8 GC.

All have been exceptionally reliable cars. There is always a "butt", or "except for this", but that's the case with virtually every car out there.

I have 64K on my 11, the only issues were a loose alternator wire giving an intermittent "battery" icon, and a broken windshield fluid nozzle.

The 13 Hemi had the driver's seatbelt buckle was installed backwards, but we traded it that way. You got used to it! And it had the transmission "clunk", but it did all we asked it to do.

The 14 diesel had an annoying buzz/rattle under the dash, which I found and fixed. It's returning an EVIC 23.x with my wife's foot in control most of the week!!

The SRT8 is awesome. It does have the front fascia problem which is not bothering my dad at all.

My in laws have a 12 V6 limited which they love. They did have to have a water pump replaced, as it had a slow leak.

Our friends are on their 2nd GC. The first was a V8, and they now have a 14 V6.

As long as a vehicle doesn't put me walking, I'll hang in there with it, as most vehicles I've owned eventually had an issue of some sort. To me, that's what a warranty is for.

Since my wife puts 25K a year on her cars, we started purchasing extended warranties with "disappearing" deductibles, which our dealership sells and HONORS! They are great about giving me a "deal" on the warranties, and we get the extra piece of mind when we expire the 3-36 warranty.

These days, you've gotta expect the inevitable "electronic" issues requiring "re-flashes", as that's simply the nature of the beast, with electronics playing such a large roll.

And you really have to expect some issues (hopefully minor) when you get the "early run" of a new model.

Remember no matter how much R&D any manufacturer puts into their cars, the real testing starts when they roll off the trucks at the dealership!!

I expect a leaky pinion seal, maybe a quirk in the radio, trim fitment issues...... But not what I went through. What I experienced is literally every single conceivable problem any troubled '14 owner has expressed, and them some new things that even the factory is boggled by, resulting in their accruing over 150 pages of internal notes (I'm told) on my vehicle's service history. That said, my sentiments are the same; I know they aren't all bad, so I went out and got an '11. Sure the '11 is at the dealer already, but let's not talk about that.
