Lets get an idea of all the people's thoughts on the 2014 GC!!

I'm much more likely to not buy a 2014 because of price than a crappy looking front-end, however I will be much more disappointed if the price is comparable to the 2013s but the front-end does end up looking crappy after all (I don't think it will look like crap, but there is a possibility). The 2014 refresh is pretty much a step forward in every single regard (some very important regards, particularly the transmission) except in my opinion aesthetics, which is a shame because if they kept the looks the same the 2014 would pretty much be absolutely perfect and there'd be no second thought as to whether or not I wanted to get the 2014, unless the price was a lot higher.

But again, as I've said before, I'm reserving final judgement until I see the final official hi-res photos. My fingers are crossed. Anyway I always have considered myself to be a function over form kinda guy. I just don't want something that looks turrible...

Well...since I've only owned the one I have since the last day of July...no matter how much I like the MY14, I'll not be buying one. My next cycle will likely be in the MY16-17 time frame. In the mean time, I'll be perfectly happy to drool over the new goodies as they come along. :)

I voted "right away", but it will actually be the following week. My salesman and his wife will be on a cruise next week. Talk about timing. :)

I don't think that will have a real big impact on my delivery date.

Same. I'm ready to buy, but I want to see the complete package first.

I think the exterior is butt ugly but maybe they have added some enhancements that none of us know about to make the "Luigi" style grille to look better. IN any case I voted that thing is ugly but the "other" drooled over it. So more than likely in the next couple of months I will have a white Overland, along side my maximum steel laredo.

Wow, 21% saying they think it looks ugly. Gee Sno, maybe you should've created the poll back when the spy photos first came out, and it might've convinced Jeep to keep the 2014 grille the same as the 2011-2013 grille. ;)

It'd be interesting if there was a poll made right before the 2011 WK2 came out to see if the same percentage of people thought it was ugly too.

I hear ya but maybe things will change when the pictures come out Sunday night. I'm not sure if there was a poll for those ones. I might do another poll in a few months about other stuff with the 14.... Stay tuned.

I'm not sure how people can say if it is ugly or not. I know that we've seen spy pictures but the photos let be honest ... they suck! Phone camera photos, tele-lense photos, behind chain link fance photos, gray grill photos and electrical tape around headlight on almost every photo.

That being said I wish they would leave the front end alone (not big fan of it) but let's wait until Monday. I also wish they would offer saddle interior. Brown from RAM is just ... plain ... old ... not exciting.

I am an optimist ... will wait until Monday!!! Damn it ... I better like it, otherwise I'm not sure what I'm going to do! My ride has 200K miles, I need a new truck!

Spot on! I need to replace my 1994 JG limited with 283K miles. need to see it in all its glory before I can make a decision, but either way I will be buying a 2014 Summit or Overland.

I am for sure waiting to see and drive one at the dealer. A little disappointed at the MPG numbers for the 4x4 CRD so I'll probably wait a year or two for the hype to go down, get a better deal, and this way I won't take such a big bath on my 'in between' car which is exactly a year old. If Jeep had launched the CRD closer to my old Jeep crapping out on me, I would have skipped the 'in between' car and would be in the "buy right away" category. CRD took much too long getting ready for US market.

I got my Jeep in June/July of 2011. It has just over 30K miles on it, and I have the lifetime unlimited mileage warranty with the $100.00 deductible. The 2014 would really have to floor me in order to get me to trade mine in. I think I'm going to wait and see what new engine platforms come out. I'd love to see a turbo V6, a small displacement V8 option with better technology, they already have the new diesel option out now, and of course the new fabled transmission to come.
It's been a long time since I've been happy with what I have. I've purchased several new cars and admittedly been disappointed by what I thought was a great car or truck. I've owned a few for less than a year and traded them in. I think I don't mind doing a little make up time in the Jeep I have.

In my luxury SUV, the transmission does not play any part in the total vehicle experience. I'd say the 8.4N is going to make a bigger impact than the transmission would to me.

It may make a difference on the SRT, but in your standard fare and luxury type GCs, the transmission isn't really a factor, they're not intended as sporty driving X5 wannabes.

Well I had planned to order right away then found out an option I wanted would not yet be available......

I'm leaning strongly toward a '14/'15 when I return to the 'states and ready to buy. I have some time, though. From everything we've seen so far, the styling has taken a turn for the worse. The rear end DOES, in fact, look minivan-ish. I mourn the loss of the flipper glass (unpopular gripe, I know... but I'm a woodworker and would like to buy boards longer than 8' without having to cut them down at the mill/lumber dealer).

With all of that being said, I think the introduction of CRD, 8-speed trans, larger nav screen and TFT instrument cluster more than make up for my gripes.

The styling will grow on me, as it does for most vehicles. When the Porsche Panamera was introduced, I thought it was the biggest atrocity ever - and I've never been a big fan of 911 styling to begin with. But by now, if I was shopping for a 4-door performance car in that price range, I'd be strongly considering the Porsche. Despite the styling (which I no long find AS appalling) its performance on-road can't be beat for the kind of car it is.

The same will hold true for the '14 Grand Cherokee, replacing "on road" with "off-road" or "in incliment weather."

I do find the Pentasar rating interesting but possible. The same MPG for both 2WD and 4WD and the same as the RAM 1500 HFE just seems unlikely. OTOH 25 mpg highway is about what we have been saying for some time though I would still like to see if the torque curve has been modified (with a 8 speed you do not need that wide a torque band).

Will bet that the 30 mpg highway for the 2WD Diesel is going to be advertised big time (with the disclaimers in very small print) and the engineers were told they would meet that mark or fall on their swords. It will be interesting to see the real numbers when the full EPA report comes out.

Bottom line, the GC has now achieved the same MPG rating as my '86 6300lb RV (though with a lot more torques).

I moved from a 2002 JGCL to my 2011 JGCO. That was a very nice upgrade and worth every single dollar. It is drop dead sexy, drives like a top and is a "lux" as I need it to be. I have had no regrets at all.

To "upgrade" yet again would take something significant and I don't see that happening.

At first I thought that the 8 speed mileage increase would be significant.... but that doesn't appear to be so. On any model other than the SRT8 I really don't think it will make a bit of difference especially if you are like me and honestly like the way the current model drives.

I had hoped for increased sex appeal and so far I don't see that happening though the reveal could change that. Not a fan of the crossover smiley face that I've seen so far. Even my wife hates that they subdued the rugged looks.

As for the interior upgrades, I think it would be nice to have but in no way shape or form worth upgrading from an 11-13 model. The only thing I use my radio for is - believe it or not - the radio. I rarely use Nav and am not fond of a rather large TV screen taking up space.

The only way I will upgrade is if the SRT8 model is more attractive. I really wanted to get the SRT8 at the last go around but just didn't love that front lower valance. If they cleaned up the lines I'll consider an upgrade.

Diesel and CRD are the same..the 14 is the 1st jeep to have it.
