Yes me too. Maybe it the RPM increase but I can't duplicate that sound manually.

It's because it holds the gears longer, therefore higher RPMs=louder sound.

Not sure of how much the torque split can vary for 2014 and "what performance based tuning is" since no further info was provided.
Yes, the MY2014 also sees an 80/20 torque split when in sport mode.

On GCs from 2011 to2013 it can be up to 80% to the rear. Up to are the important words. So it depends!

Yes, very good distinction to make and I believe it is true in the 2014's as well.

Suggestion: If the OP is in the USofA, the Jeep website allows you to order the OM in hard copy as the original owner. That way it can be perused while on the throne, etc. Search functionality dependent on user.

The OM is just a phone call away:
From the user guide that came with my '14:

To add to that the Owners Manual does not go into detail on ANYTHING ! It is a vague as the Jeep Brochures.

Re: 2014 GC Sport Mode

My 2014 Overland V8 feels like it is on-edge, ready for cutting through traffic, responding immediately. I would not leave it in Sport mode, as that will hurt fuel economy, and holding the lower gears longer gives it more engine braking than needed in routine driving. The combination of the V8 and the new 8-speed makes it an excellent vehicle.

I used to think that until I compared the cost of a new transmission to new brake pads!
