i will not have to buy transmission, its under warranty and if it will not hold up its nothing but chryslers fault ! why put a sport mode in it if it will not work ?

they made it with it and i will use it !

if it breaks they will fix it !

no problem, but i dont use sport mode on open high ways only on hilly curvy back roads and city driving

Too bad that method doesn't alert the folks behind you that you are slowing down. I guess you'll get a lot more life from your brake lights, in addition to the pads.

Amen... although drive trains tend to be more robust than those in the days of the
engine braking vs brake pedal braking [the brakes sucked] folklore.

Sport mode is nice for entrance ramps, particularly the nasty upslope ones where you can't see that semi or bus cutting into the entrance lane until you are well up and
committed to merging.

It's as much, if not more, putting the load on the engine than the transmission. It's just the transmission is picking the gear.

But agree. I hate that argument of "saving breaks". Those are cheap, disposable and easy to replace.

The only time I like Engine Down Shifting is when it's in ADDITION to braking. Which the Jeep also does. As soon as you touch the brakes you'll see the RPM jump as it down shifts.

This is coming from a person that owns and loves a standard transmission too.

Another feature the Jeep does that's not talked about is as soon as you take your foot off the gas pedal it preps the brakes (calipers) for breaking so that you get better brake response. It brings them in, to just a hair before or slight contact as soon as you take your foot off the gas. Pretty cool.

Re: 2014 GC Sport Mode

well persons behind me know i am turning when i turn my blinker on lol

the other thing i like about sport mode is the more power to rear wheels makes it perform more of a 2wd than 4wd

Re: 2014 GC Sport Mode

Does anyone else sit at a long stop light and go from Aero height in sport mode all the way up to off road II and then back down just to screw with the car behind you?

Don't you mean, just to attract attention to yourself?

Re: 2014 GC Sport Mode

I have a couple of buddies that I like to raise it to OR II before I let them off.

Re: 2014 GC Sport Mode

I used to have a switch wired into brake lights in my old 3 series normal, no brake lights, and delayed. Delayed was for playing on back roads and messing with Porsches. Front lights were set up to allow fogs, pencil beams, high beams and low beams to run all at the same time.

Saving the brakes and using the tranny to slow down ie coming down through the gears and double clutching comes from the bad old days of 4 wheel drum brakes. If you were really talented you didnt use the clutch.

PUBLICATIONS ORDERING
If you are the first registered retail owner of your vehicle, you may obtain one free
printed copy of the Owner's Manual, Warranty Booklet or Radio Manuals on your
DVD by calling 18774265337 (U.S.) or 18003871143 (Canada) or by
contacting your dealer.
Thanks for this info! I just ordered mine (amazingly they answer the phone at 10:30 pm) and they told me I have a RRT that needs to be done too. Something about reprogramming the rear electronic locking differential. They even offered to call my dealership and set up an appointment for me. I thought that was pretty good service! They also verified all my options and asked what radio I had and they made sure they were sending me the SRT Owner's Manual. I'm impressed!
