2014 GC XenonDepot HID Kit Install Complete

I thought I would drop a quick thread about my HID light install for those who are looking for better light output and debating on pulling the trigger.

I chose the Xtreme Digitial HID Kit with H11 5000k bulbs from kbcarstuff.com (XenonDepot). My main objective was to replace the existing halogen bulbs with an HID kit that would provide better light output with just a hint of blue. The 5000k bulb does just that. I am very pleased with the results.

After doing a little research on the best method for installing these bulbs I chose to remove the front bumper and headlight housings. In my opinion, this method is the easiest. It may sound more complicated, but in fact, it is quite simple to remove the front bumper cover and headlight housings. The front bumper is held on by snaps, clips and two 10mm bolts. Once the cover and headlight assemblies are removed, it is easy to route the wires, mount the ballasts, relay and canbus fix.

The kit itself is plug and play. Simply plug it all together following the provided instructions, ground the harness and connect the 12v lead to the battery post. Then put the Jeep back together.

As I mentioned earlier, I purchased the kit from XenonDepot as others had recommended. I found customer service to be excellent and shipping to be fairly quick. If you are in the market for an HID kit, I would highly recommend this kit.

Here is a pic of the light output from inside the cabin:

Looks good. Doing mine this weekend with fogs.

Did you disconnect the battery or pull the fuse on the hid harness then put fuse back in after connecting to positive harness and grounding?

Any pics of wire routing under bumper cover?

I did not pull the fuses. Just ground both ballasts first then connect the positive. You could pull the fuses too.

I don't have any pics of the wire routing.

Was it necessary to use an Error Decoder Canceler Capacitor?

I used the canbus fix. It came with the kit. There was a special promo code from xenondepot that included it. I don't remember the promo code. You can ask xenondepot if it is still active.

I purchased the kit from ebay. The Ballast are described as digital and low draw. I would need separately purchase an error canceler / flicker unit. Also available on eBay for very little cost, but was just wondering if it was really necessary for the 2012 Grand Cherokee.

reflector based halogen housing, plus the ripple on the left side of the image says everything you'd need to know.
