Maybe they need a "Shifter App" on their phone? LOL

Re: 2014 Gear Shift Confusion

Got my shifter recall done on Friday, took over 4 hours to update 4 computers on the Summit. Now when the car is in neutral and you open the door the car automatically shifts into Park. There is no alarm but the EIF says "Autopark".

Re: 2014 Gear Shift Confusion

If you're in reverse with the door open and your foot on the brake, nothing happens. Take your foot off the brake and the tranny goes into Park.

People need to train themselves to always us a parking break, this will prevent the car from moving once in Park and stop or slow down a car left in another gear besides Park.

On all my cars for my entire life whenever I Park I engage the parking break as an added safety measure.

Re: 2014 Gear Shift Confusion

It is estimated over 38,000 people died in traffic accidents in 2015 in the U.S. (http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-w...ety-group-says). Any deaths are unacceptable, but they happen. As usual, though, we are always trying to lay blame. The shifter may, or may not, have been the sole contributing factor in this tragedy. FCA has worked hard to fix the issue of drivers not being able to adjust to this new shifting system. It has been changed totally going forward, and the effected vehicles are being given a software update to mitigate the danger of driver error with the shifter. Suing FCA out of business isn't going to bring back one life. But like crows at a roadkill, the lawyers are circling. I'm not going to follow the myriad threads on this subject anymore.

Worse they have all these stupid "safety" features but have never put a breathalyzer on a car before starting it or made it shout down your phone so no texting.

Re: 2014 Gear Shift Confusion

You are correct. If the seat belt is latched when I open the door the car will not Autopark.
