Yeah... I knew that but was writing fast and messed that up. Thanks for pointing that out.

So which method do you use and what is your success rate?

I feel the indents well. I honestly hit it so successfully that I can't even remember if I look to the dash or shifter for confirmation if I miss. It's our only vehicle so I put decent seat time in.
I wouldn't trust myself as much in an emergency situation as a traditional shifter. Because I have missed. But i like it and I'd rather take my chances

Re: 2014 Gear Shift Confusion

That is when the trouble starts.....

you find the last parking spot, but it is across the road. You do a quick U-turn but don't quite complete the turn. You need to reverse to make it a 3-point turn. Problem is that you have cars coming at you from both sides. Better make it quick to go from DRIVE to REVERSE ... and that's when the fun begins.

Do you end up in neutral, reverse or park - in the heat of the moment you are watching cars (maybe with train horns) rather than what your dash is displaying.

I choose not to put myself into those awkward positions you describe.

Re: 2014 Gear Shift Confusion

Since this has turned into "All things shifter related":

On the new '16 shifter, can you shift into neutral without turning on the engine ( ACC mode)?

Apparently, people don't understand what the "P" means on the shifter, or the dash display. FFS. Like the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink it. Pay attention people!! If you can't take the time to verify whether or not you're in PARK before exiting your expensive, 5000 pound vehicle, YOU SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING!!! This is just ridiculous.
This is just mind-boggling. I absolutely LOVE the shifter in our '14. I'm flummoxed by how this is at all a "problem."

Well I Back into Parking Spots 99% of the time.

I find it easier and safer to back into a parking spot, rather than fronting in. I've done this for over 2 decades of driving. In fact, many driving schools (any companies) advise this as well.

Which is why I've got a LOT of experience going from Drive-to-Reverse. And my WK2 is my daily driver (and only vehicle).

Obviously, not everyone who can Read information also has the capacity to Comprehend it.

Post # 61 by "antsjeep" along with my post # 81 pretty clearly describe the potential issue with the 2014/15 Shifter.

Possibly I'm from a less populous area than you.

Just move to Miami then you won't care how much traffic you hold up or how many people honk at you ... seriously, the people here don't care about traffic laws and will jump forward in the next lane to cut in line and hold up an entire lane of traffic while they stop on a major highway/interstate to now cut in, or do a left turn from the third lane from the left blocking three lanes until the opposite traffic allows them in, or hop in the express lane by driving over the lane divider posts at 50-60 MPH (that'll scare the shiiit out of you when unexpected). So a U-turn that holds up a bit of traffic is nothing to be concerned about...at least here.

Oh I've read them, they are just never a problem for me. It's so easy to not mess it up once you get the "feel" of it. You can feel every notch, know the resistance, know how to go up notch by notch or multiple ones at a time, etc.

Re: 2014 Gear Shift Confusion investigated by Feds

Sometimes, including today, when going from park to reverse, I go into Neutral. What should I do to go from park to reverse successfully every time?
