Trannys that wont shift past 2nd gear.

Dash lights and instruments gone berzerk.

Fail to start.

Quit while running.

AC failing to cool intermittently.

Leaky sunroof drains shorting electronics, flooding the subfloor.

Wheel shimmy, vibration at speed.

The forum is full of reports. I already ordered my CRD. I'm going to take the good with the bad since I have spare vehicles.

My point is that Chrysler needs to double down on reliability and add features later.

I don't think its an assembly issue...its an issue with the various components that are failing. These components are sourced items for the most part. The driveline and major mechanicals are not the issue. Unfortunately the various electronics control the driveline.

agreed...but these are minor issues from less than 10 forum members and a not a widespread reliability problem across the platform. I know for a fact the biggest complaint with the 2014 GC's is the 8.4 uconnect. Thats an update...working out the bugs. I can go to the zj, wj, wk and 2011-2103 forums and pull minor problems. I can go to acura, honda, lexus etc. and pull those same issues from their boards. I would guess 100K plus GC's have been built in 14' MY.

Scott,

I hope you are right. Part of it is my hyper-awareness after ordering. Also its the "squeaky wheel gets the oil" syndrome....with lemon posts being higher visibility with owners coming here to vent frustration.

I do hope they work on reliability though! I want 120k with NO issues if possible.

you are correct....the complaint threads get 100x more visibility. That and happy owners dont post....they lurk, read etc.

My 2012 Overland never missed a click either. But on the 14's with the new electrical system and Uconnect, many lose the 2X click to open liftgate feature on the keyfob.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I have a 2012 and the only problem I have is with the shocks (been replaced 4 times), but that's a whole other thread lol. Even with some of the horror stories I have read on the site about the 14 some of the new features are starting to appeal to me. I have always liked the new interiors on the 14. the exterior was a whole different story. I'm still not crazy about it but I have always liked the exterior of the 14' SRT's. with the updated first post about an Altitude model coming in March, it may sway me to get a 14. With the Altitude having blacked out components may give me the look I like and the tech I want. As for the reliability piece of the 14's, I think it was released too soon and they should have caught some of the bugs before letting it out of the door. The 14 is a great vehicle, I have faith in Jeep that they will get everything sorted out and fixed for the existing 14's that are problematic. whew long winded.
