Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I was reading an interesting article about the WK2's Jefferson North Assembly plant here:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/16/bu...Eahp86z/EW/MrQ

I noticed that like half the workforce only get's paid $16 an hour, which is only like $35,000 a year. That is pretty darn low for skilled labor. Hopefully Chrysler can keep quality in check as I know I wouldn't be working very hard for only $35K a year lol.

I wonder when the bump from $16 to $28 dollars an hour occurs.

When the GC jumps 10% in price, you'll know they all got raises. Technically speaking, "skilled trade" jobs in a factory refer to jobs that involve technically trained people like Control Techs, Machinists, and Electricians. "Skilled Labor" are trained on the job and certainly can earn good pay but not all jobs are that demanding or skilled.

Production works are not considered skilled
They do the same task all day
For a place that had no jobs i would think $16.00 per hour would sound better then zero

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I doubt many of you would do what I do for what they pay me, so please, save the judgement.. Everyone at JNAP wasn't sitting on the couch mooching off the govt. when we got this job. Some of us actually did make good money in what now seems like a past life. And had REAL benefits. (We don't have nearly the same coverages as the tier 1's.)

So if you've never walked in my shoes, please don't tell me how comfortable they are. Thanks.

No judgment here Chevy. You guys do an outstanding job and I know things are tough all over. My comment was aimed at the general state of employment in a world economy. Staying competitive with the overseas mfgs sucks the living standard down for everyone "in the middle". I currently live on the same pay I made in 1999....yet work a lot harder. I work in manufacturing and see it all over.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Calling Mr Milous,

G'day Milous, finally got my Laredo CRD 2 weeks ago after ordering it in November last year in Orstraylya Downunder.

Women dont carry babies that long, 10 months, and even then I had to do a caesarian op to extract it out of Chrysler Jeep Aust.

No worries I have my Big Red Fire Truck now.

Can you advise me, to bling the Laredo up I want to replace the standard black plastic/PVC lower fascia surround with the chrome lower fascia surround of the ltd/overland. Photo attached.

Any of your other forum members feel free to advise me as well.

Ive talked to Moparone, Mopar usa, Mopar Aust and cant get a definitive answer out of them if the part is interchangable. I think it is, comparing the laredo with ltd/overland side by side.

Ive got the part number; Lower Fascia Front Applique - Part Number 68143070AC (Part 23 in the diagram)

My VIN is VIN 1C4RJFEM0EC191668 .
Not sure if that Part No is for the Laredo or the ltd/overland.

Can you point me in the right direction or pass me onto the right thread or forum Milous.

Thanks m8 and thanks again for all your valuable info and help.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Thanks folks, answered my own question here! Re; installing chrome lower grille surrounds on Laredo.

Looked around the site and guess what?? There it was. Amazing topic info on here!!

Doc Perry from The Alamo had the exact info and install procedure accompanied by pics for what I wanted.

US$18 for the part but A$220 freight downunder.

Went to our local Jeep dealer and ordered the part for A$75 (US$70) Not bad.

Heres Doc Perry's post. Very helpful m8.
