Thanks Shannon. I guess I should have ordered the Adv Tech....ugh! I just had a real issue with it slamming on the brakes for me! I could see an 18 wheeler tailgating me and my car decides to stop hard...ugh. Oh well.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I never understood the Advanced Tech Group would actually stop the JGC just apply full force braking for 1 1/2 secs. Does it actually stop the vehicle? My Subaru Outback does but I can't seem to get a clear answer on this.

Any of the new builds now have the stop feature. It was added late this summer.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

All the new builds will have the stop feature. With regard to the adaptive cruse control, yes the jeep will come to a full stop. As far as coalition mitigation I do not think it is intended to work without operator input.

It'll bring it to a stop with ACC but I didn't think the same applied to the forward crash mitigation. Do you know for sure?

This is directly from the owners manual:

When the system determines that a forward collision is
probable, the driver will be provided with audible and
visual warnings and may provide a brake jerk warning. If
the driver does not take action based upon these progressive
warnings, then the system will provide a limited
level of active braking to help slow the vehicle and
mitigate the potential forward collision. If the driver
reacts to the warnings by braking and the system determines
that the driver intends to avoid the collision by
braking but has not applied sufficient brake force, the
system will compensate and provide additional brake
force as required.

I was just reminded of this feature in the way to work today when the system determined I was a little too close to the person in front of me while I was changing lanes. That sound and that brake brake brake and your jeep abruptly slowing down is a great way to make sure your brown eye still can pucker up when you're unexpectedly stressed. I think It finally released itself 30 minutes later and luckily my underwear was still fresh and without streaks.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Thanks everyone. That just makes this vehicle even more impressive. I have this on the Outback and I will never buy another vehicle without it.
It is really awesome.
Thanks again....

That is the exact reason I skipped Adv Tech. In tight traffic, those behind you have to react too....chain reaction. Not good. I do like the adaptive cruise and blind spot detection. Can each feature be turned off if desired?

That's the only time it's ever happened and I'm glad it's there maybe I shouldn't have been that close and the person behind me shouldn't be that close to me. Utilizing technology is a good thing and great to have as long as you're aware of its capabilities and you operate your vehicle accordingly. You can't drive for the person behind you.

Correct, you can't drive for the person behind you. They drive their rig, I drive mine. If they are tailgating me with their 80,000 lbs rig, the last thing I would do is decelerate quickly. I might seek an alternate path instead. How someone follows is beyond our control but how we react is up to us. We can't argue how wrong they were when we're dead.

I want choices not automatic decisions and computer induced evasive actions....but to each their own. I do wish I had the adaptive cruise.

Yes, you can turn the Forward-Assist Warning/Braking - whatever it is called off and keep the others. Those are 3 separate systems. Personally, I have the auto-braking stuff turned on, but it is set to the near distance (I'm the AH that is on your bumper , so I don't like it being overly sensitive). Blind spot I have the light notification on, but the sound notifications off. Adaptive cruise - I use that ALL the time - it is awesome in traffic.
