No offense noted. (although I could see how some could see it that way, but like you said, we are all entitled to our opinions).
To quote my favorite comedian Ron White: "You can't fix stupid."
Unfortunately, this is true, and there are enough of them on the road that I want the advanced features to help fend them off, yet alone the very few times I pull a bone head move (as all humans do).

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Advanced Cruise Control is a feature that aids the driver not replaces the driver. I for one will not buy a future vehicle without one. Why? Because believe it or not I am not infallible and will take any "aid" I can get. If you allow yourself to be removed from the control loop then you do place yourself in an automated mode and you better hope it works well.
Fact is that highly aided total driving systems are starting to creep into high end cars and will trickle down.
My only fear is someone allowing George to drive the car for them while they read or nap or whatever. It will happen and most systems require the driver to have "both" hands on the wheel.
I actually think this is a great feature if used correctly.

This technology takes some getting used too just like flying aircraft with totally automated systems take getting used to. I guess that is why I don't have an issue with the system acting on my behalf as long as I am in the loop and not distracted.

Bring it on I am looking forward to the JGC with the ACC...

Plus the Voice Recognition technology is there to STOP people from looking away.

Anyway, this stuff actually works and it isn't just to insulate people from the tech in the car... it will save lives and minimize injuries that has been proven well beyond systems like lane departure warnings. You should maybe read a little bit of the research on this subject.

I have NEVER seen this as a buffer for doing stupid stuff like texting while driving but I am definitely not perfect so I am glad it is there to help with my imperfections .
I am not interested in starting a . However, I must point out that sometimes technology does NOT work (read Consumer Reports). When it does not work, those relying on it are less likely to avoid an accident than those relying on their ability to drive well.

It's not technology alone that's supposed to save you...pay attention in addition to the technology and put the phone down so you're not texting at 80 mph. Technology can't save you when you're doin things that will make you crash and burn literally.

I always pay attention. No tickets or accidents for 40+ years. You don't have to worry about me texting, either. I don't even own a cell phone.

I have not bought or ordered anything, YET. I am not an off-roader. I just like to take long highway trips and be comfortable during and after my drive.
