I'm going out on a limb here... are they holding off special editions until the MY15 model year?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The problem with technology is it makes us all worse drivers. ABS hey you no longer need to know how to threshold brake. Stabiity Control you no longer need to have a clue about car control or know how to use all the pedals, the steering and brakes to save your sorry butt. Same thing with all the other electronic nannies.

Ever spun a car with ABS? Its no fun. Its unpredictable. W/o ABS you brake hard or lock them up at the same time you shift into neutral or push in the clutch. You then come to a safe predictable stop if you know what you are doing.

In snow especially deep snow I dont want ABS since my stopping distance will be longer and I dont want stability control or any other nannies since there maybe a time when I want the vehicle to rotate or drift. There are times when taking an exit ramp in in a nice 4 wheel drift is the safest option in the snow

Can you still spin a vehicle with all the electronic nannies? Yes you can and the biggest problem is it happens at a higher speed than w/o them and you reaction times are next to nothing.

So get off the phone, stop texting and learn to drive. Most posters here and most drivers dont have a clue about car control.

Good advice. However, most of the folks who need that advice think of themselves as the Jimmy Johnson of the public road system.

Yeah but Jimmy Johnson can only turn left and only races when its dry. He also has spotters, firesuit, helmet, 6pt harness and a full roll cage.

Just think if our wonderful govt mandated roll cages, 6pt harnesses and race seats in all vehicles sold in the US the US vehicle owning population would be the healthiest on the planet.

True, we would all be walking because we couldn't afford to buy a car.

Actually it would be cheaper than the 10 airbags and sensors, the pretensioner with explosives on the seat belts and sensors etc. Replacing sensors and airbags etc is one of the biggest expenses in accident repair.

Only Dale Sr, and a couple of the current top drivers are great road course racers. Against their peers in their series they are okay but none of them can compete with best Touring Car, Aussie V8 or Endurance drivers. Tony Stewart maybe the best road racer in NASCAR. Would be interesting to see some of top NASCAR drivers in the DTM or racing at the Spa 24hr race in the rain.

And they dont race in the rain.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I am all for this technology because it might save my life when some texting individual with advanced cruise control doesn't see I have stopped and stops the car be smashing into me.
There is no way that we are going to improve drivers in the US period. The driving tests in this country are what they are which is not a demonstration of how to drive but a demonstration of how to pass a test that doesn't tax anyone skills.

Until the state governments mandate a real driving test I am all for technology that might save lives.

I have been driving great performing cars for years like my BMW M3 and the BMWCCA does hold driving events to teach young kids car control. I wish our country would implement the licensing requirements that Europe does. At least at one point in their life (to pass the test) you would be taxed at how to drive a car correctly.
