I would much rather have a V8 than a turbocharged or supercharged 6 cylinder. Even though the HEMI technically isn't a real HEMI, it is still a great engine. What can the ecoboost do that the HEMI can't, and does GM even have a turbo-6?

However, I would rather have a supercharged V8 putting put 640-680 HP (numbers estimated by Allpar) than a N/A V8, or basically anything. The Hellcat will allow the Challenger to compete with the Camaro ZL1 and the Shelby GT500, while it will allow the Charger to be in a class of its own and the JGC (eventually) to destroy everything in its class as well. A JGC with the Hellcat is potentially faster than the upcoming Lambo SUV, which will undoubtedly cost 5 times more. It will top everything else by over 100 HP (at least for now, maybe not 4 years from now).

Its not the same "hemi" design as the old, it is a much more efficient design than the old ones, but still has a hemispherical combustion chamber.

I was just saying it wasn't a real HEMI because that's what Setoutguy was saying. I'm not technical and have no idea, so thanks for the correction.

He says the same crap in every post he ever posts in both forums. If you dispute it he pretty much ignores it. He is the resident anti hemi expert.

Really the current 5.7 has true hemispherical combustion chambers just the like the original???

The old hemi isn't completely hemisphereical either. The 50's hemi's were closest to a true hemi. The new hemi has 2 small quench pads on the side of the combustion chamber, so its like a slightly oblonged hemi combustion chamber.
It is actually a better chamber than the 426 had due to this.

While old hemi heads were great for generating power, they sucked at putting out good emissions numbers. The new heads use just the very top portion of the hemisphere, so you still get the good plug location, but a lot more quench.

The 426 isn't a perfect hemisphere either although it is closer than the 5.7 hemi. The reason the new "Hemi" isn't a true hemisphere is that a true hemisphere has too much surface area for optimal combustion.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Post 2 still lists lane departure warning as one of the 2014 features. But later posts seem to indicate it's unlikely to make it in until at least 2015. Did it just never get removed from the post, or has there been a change in plans and it may go in the 2014s?

Looks like it's being moved to the 2015 model year, I'll edit the info.

LOL I'll swap tailgates with you. I was thinking the other day how much I really don't use it. But it's nice to have. I know it curbed weight and helped rear visibility a little, but I can see where the feature is helpful. Maybe the will introduce glass that rolls down into the tailgate like the 4-Runner has, or maybe the will return flipper. It seems like a feature that everyone across the board (except for Jeep engineers) misses or wants for that "just in case" moment.

Anyway who cares about the flipper glass, Milous are you going to divulge any info on the Altitude? <grin>

Milous confirmed in the "Changes for 2015?" thread that flipper glass is gone.

Problem is Chrysler has to meet the government requirement for fleet mpgs or whatever its called and it increases every year so a turbo or supercharged V6 is usually the answer. A Pentastar twin turbo would be a great engine unless Fiat and Alfa f it up. Although GMs current 5.3l in 2014 get mileage that rivals the Ecoboost. Problem with the Challenger is its heavier than both the Stang and Camaro and wallows in the twisties. I take a new Z28 over a Challenger anyday or a Boss 302. M4 is now a joke. Hellcat might make it into 2017 or 18 GC SRT8 and where it can do a great job on pavement. Shame Jeep cant build an off road GC with the Hellcat to give the Range Rover Sport some competition.
