Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

This has been a huge complaint....no flipper glass...

I use mine probably 2x/day minimum and probably 5x/day average.
Super convenient and their "excuse" is it makes the window funny shaped so you can't see out of it very easily. Pure BS!

Worst Excuse Ever! Second worst was "Weight savings".

No need to rehash an open wound. Just thought it was a fun opportunity to bring it up again when Marlon said no "Noticeable" changes.

I hear it was for aerodynamics and fuel mileage. I have it on my 2012 and rarely use it. I would prefer I split tailgate so I have something to sit on with molded in cup holders like the Honda Element.

I use the flipper glass on my '13 Overland more than the full tailgate...much quicker!
I'd bet big money that the only real reason they've eliminated the feature is MONEY plain and simple. They've taken substantial cost out of building the vehicle, and you can bet your ass the selling price will not reflect the savings. EM-OH-EN-EEE-WHY! MONEY!

And...based on what I read here, there appears to be at least some agreement that the flipper isn't really needed, which is all the "Lean" manufacturing crowd needs to hear before they eliminate the feature all together.

For every person that says that they do not use the flipper glass, there's another who uses it several times daily. Mine gets used at least twice each day. Some days I'll even ride around with it up and all the windows down. Feels great. If I had a sunroof it would feel almost like a convertible.

Oh yeah! I totally agree! I hate to wait for the whole tailgate to go up and down when a simple little open and close of the glass will do.
What I was saying is that if the lean mfg types hear even a hint from the market research group that the flipper glass is redundant and could be eliminated...BAM! IT'S OUT!!!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

So has anyone seen that they have now started manufacturing the 2014 WK2 with the adaptive cruise control with stop?! the advanced tech package is now $200 more with that included, I wonder if the dealer can upgrade my current less advanced, adaptive cruise??

yeah they started rolling off of the line with the stop feature in late July 2013. No it cant be upgraded on the old ACC unfortunately, few of us were looking into that a while ago.
