From the looks of the pictures the knobs and buttons aren't on the bigger screen models and their functions are controlled by the touch screen instead.

As studgun mentioned, there are no knobs on the 8.4" radios, they are incorporated below the radio, like in the example below:

They can be controlled by the buttons/knobs below, or the screen as was confirmed by Milous. It works the exact same way in my mom's Dodge Journey. I like using the screen, she prefers the controls.

The redundant controls are a SMART idea by Chrysler, many vehicles out there have only the screen controls, with some requiring going deep into menus for simple climate/radio tasks, very aggravating to say the least.

what vehicle is this radio out of? that hideous black surround on the radio and the trailer park paneling? eeek

This is off post, but I've noticed Jeep having the power bonus cash incentive twice. This is twice in 2 months (went away then came back) are they doing this to make the 2012 hemi's move for a better performing and tuned hemi with better mpg for the 2014? I'm not trying to start speculation I'm just asking a straight forward question.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I wonder if the onscreen controls will still be there when in map/nav mode. If so, the 8.4 scree will be a disappointment.

hopefully the jeep has better material quality for the surround and overall center stack. That looks cheap.

I like it and think it is from a ram. But look at the spie shots and you will see how it will look like in the jeep, really nice. I just couldn't believe that the picture milous posted is from a jeep ass the size of the overall consol look at bit different from want it should look like in a jeep.

I hope so, and I've posted this across the internet at least 10 times, but if UConnect Access requires me to have separate plan that will mean I have my cell phone bill, my car's cell phone bill, Sirius + Travelink bill, and bills for any streaming services (i.e. Spotify) I'm sure the vehicle will have the ability to use. If you wanted to take full advantage of the system, the car tech alone could end up costing you $100+ a month!
That is exactly why I'm curious what the options are going to be

I agree it's smart. My tsx was easy to get to with just one button. However when the nav system had an issue it took the control screen with it. Couldn't really control the system until I got the nav fixed.

While I won't agree that the Ram 1500's 8.4" bezel looks cheap, the overall design for the 2014 WK does look better.

Milous, I haven't seen any 2014 pilots lately. Do you know if we are done building them?

Where the heck are our 2014 WDs? They gotta be coming soon, right?
