Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I thought I posted a question regarding the use of parking heaters in the GC a while ago but I can't find it anymore, so I post it "again".

I use a webasto parking heater in my 300C and it annoys me that I have to set the temp and the air flow in the car before I leave it otherwise the parking heater may not work properly when I switch it on viw the remote. I believe the current GC has the same problem, right?

So the questions is, will the new electronic structure improve this situation, ie will the car notice if the parking heater is started and adjust the settings automatically (like in other cars)? I would really be interested in an answer to this questions so if someone can comment that would be highly appreciated!

Alphakong, I don't think your question got answered because the majority of us are in the USA, and have never heard of a parking heater. I just found out after your post. Interesting!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Wow, that surprises me! This is such a nice feature.

For those you have not heard about parking heaters: Retrofit a Webasto parking heater now - a hot tip for cold days

Are parking heaters not allowed in the US? I think in many states they could be really useful.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I never heard of a parking heater. I guess they will make there way here in time. With remote start, heated seats and steering wheels, and the speed todays cars warm up, it seems like a lot to avoid 2 or 3 minutes of discomfort.

As far as being good for the environment, most here would rather have big powerful cars than clean air. The only thing boosting small car sales is high gas prices.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Interesting comments all the way around. I hope they make the center console out of either "wood grain" or "brushed silver". The "battleship grey" looks very cheap for what you pay for the GC.

I also wonder why Jeep puts the spare tire inside the cargo floor? Why not keep it underneath, outside so they can have more inside storage. My Explorer has 2 compartments underneath the cargo floor, inside so I can store flashlight, bungee cords, gloves, etc. Can anyone remember the last time they got a flat tire? Maybe this has something to do with THEFT?

Talk to me!

Believe me this is really a comfortable feature which you don't ant to miss anymore once you had it. You never need to clear your car from ice. You can set a temperature you like for a certain time an the system decides itself when it needs to start heating and switches itself on. Of course you can press an "on" button too or send your car an sms from anywhere to programme or start it.

But with the remote start option, which is not legal in Germany (!), you proably achieve the same, but less efficient as yu don't need to run the engine to heat the vehicle.

It would be ahrd to believe that such a system would not be legal in the us but a remote start would....

I'm liking this execution! Any chance we can order just the new 8.4" RA4 and replacement trim bezel to install in a 2011-2013 GC? Specifically to replace a 730N/MyGig/RHR? As this is a refresh, I assume the steering wheel controls and bus communications would remain the same (I know, assuming is not always safe or wise).

That's of course not an SRT8 but the center consol looks pretty final.

Living in the northeast, I'd much rather have the spare inside the vehicle instead of outside because I know with my luck I'd need it when its about -10 F and the underneath spare would be caked/frozen with snow. WK1 had the spare outside but they moved it back inside for the WK2.
