Thanks guys. Turns out the iPhone doesn't support SMS over Bluetooth but you can control Siri (and all of the things that Siri can do) using the car's bluetooth mic. So I guess I can send texts, make calendar appointments, check weather, etc just by holding down my iPhone home button. That's close enough for me. =)

Gee, life without Android is realllly tough these days

OK - plans to order a '14 GC are back on track

"New: All-new instrument cluster with 7" color premium vehicle information screen"

I don't know how reliable the info is.
Yep, that is the source I obtained the info from in my prior post.

I was just curious to know why Scottina06 isn't sure any more that the Jeep is going to get the cluster in the first place.

all i was refering to was the 7" screen and it's positon, which I addressed in my original post with the image. Obviously a refresh would not include a complete overhaul of an interior.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

If a C segment Dodge Dart can get the screen, it is must certain that the WK2 will get it. Chrysler and Marchionne are not stupid. Especially if they are serious about moving Jeep upscale than it will definitely have it. I'm sure its standard on SRT and Summit. Option on Overland and Laredo X. This sounds like a more reasonable assumption. IMO

That's not the screen they're talking about. This discussion is abt the VIC screen, not the infotainment unit.

Yeah, good question. I would have to see it in person, but in my opinion, by looking at the photo at least, that color (Copperhead Pearl) is a little too coppery (and I almost want to say dull) for my liking.

Looks like Jeep already uses that color in the Patriot and Compass by the way.

Someone in my area owns a "Header Orange" Dodge Challenger, which looks killer in person (and in the photo, which seems fairly accurate) and which I like a lot better than the copperhead above:

The question is would that color suit a WK2? It might be a little much?

I'm thinking the "perfect" shade would be a cross between that color and a red. I keep going back to this photo, which again is apparently "Inferno Red" but it sure looks like an (awesome) orange to me:

That's actually the perfect "orange" for the GC, in my opinion...

Its called the EVIC and even if they were talking about the 8.4", every option that is a available on the Dart should be a no-brainer for the Jeep.

This a picture of the Dart with the 7" screen they speak of. Maybe just miscommunication because I understood.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I think the Summit and SRT should have both the 7" EVIC screen and the 8.4" infotainment screen as standard.

They will.. I've stated this already. Every '14 WK2 SRT and Summit I've seen so far has had both. This COULD change, as Scott has hinted at, but there's no info. saying so at this point. The original questioner asked whether or not the VIC would be STANDARD equipment on Overland's and Limited's. Overland's, maybe.. Limited's, not likely.. (And fyi; I call it the VIC, bc that's what it's known as around here.. Everyone knows its electronic. But you're right, EVIC is the proper acronym for it..)

Thanks, chevyboy!

And that's were the confusion started because based on Scott's post, it appeared that new info was available on that.

Now, however, if there is no info, how could Scott hint at that and basically ask if Milous had already made an announcement on a possible change?

I mean, without info, I could also hint that there will be no 8-speed on the 2014, right?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

You could, but you'd be wrong!

And idk where the new speculation comes from. Remember, Scott and Milous are privied to info that could mean they're (Jeep) gonna go in a different direction. And also remember these are still TEST vehicles we're seeing at this point. Which COULD be the reason why the VIC screen is in so many of them. If Scott's insight DOES prove to be solid, then maybe the change of plans comes bc too many issues arose during testing and they're contemplating prolonging the launch of the feature to maybe '14.5? Idk.. I'm throwing darts at this point. Maybe Milous can RE-confirm this for you guys.. I'm almost certain that it'll be on the SRTs and Summits tho. But we'll see..

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I see - so there might be something officially inofficial going on.

I could see a possible delay on that feature if they are dealing with some issues now - however, I'd have a hard time believing they could potentially throw the entire EVIC-idea under the bus after it has been introduced on other vehicles and obviously tested quite extensively..

Oh, and the '14.5 idea sounds quite possible. After all, MY14 will be longer than an ordinary MY.
