Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'm not saying that's the case, but it's possible.. And another potential delay COULD be so they have something to introduce across the 18mo run. Giving it all at launch would be bad marketing. But hopefully none of this is true.. You guys seem really excited abt extra sh!t to play with while driving. Lol..

Honestly, take out all of that extra sh!t and you have a boring SUV. After all, not everybody is buying the GC for off-roading. I'm going to get one because of all its features and gimmicks. Over the past decade, the Grand Cherokee developed this second selling point to attract buyers. IMO, it worked quite well.

I don't mind if it takes a bit time to introduce the new features over the entire 2014 MY - after all, I have to wait 'til MY15 to dump my current ride.

But hey - I'll get an even more gimmicks (360 degree parking camera etc.) as compensation..

BTW, where is the "2015 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes"-thread. It's time to close the one for 2013..

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

You're absolutely right.. It seems as though Jeep, and Chrysler in general has surpassed Ford and GM altogether in terms of what's offered in their vehicles, and set their sights on the Germans. The sales figures don't reflect it yet, bc of the negative reputation Chrysler worked so hard to build over the years, but the brand is definitely headed in the right direction. Many loyalists will continue to buy Fords and Chevys, but when you look at the vehicles in their respective segments, I can't say what Ford or GM product I'd take over a loaded Ram, 300, Grand Cherokee, or any SRT product. And I'm a Chevy man!.. But their cars suck these days. Maybe I too have developed a bias over the years. But I remember when I worked in a shop, I used to cringe when ANY Chrysler came in for repairs! Now, quality is up, and the cars not only look and feel better, but they are WELL equipped.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I have owned:

Chrysler Products: 6
GM Products: 0
Ford Products: 0
Toyota Products: 0
Honda Products: 0

However I have never driven them long distances until the WK and KK. 56k and 68k respectively.

WK and KK have both been great, except for the water leak in the KK. But they FINALLY figured out how to fix it, so I'm happy. I haven't had any issues with my KK since. None. Zero. Which is cool because my aunt bought a new Lexus ES a few years ago which didn't even make it back to her house before her engine exploded.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Marlon what have you to say abt this dilemma? Doesn't it seem like every '14 over there is loaded? Have you heard anything abt them slashing any of the new goodies?

Let me chime in on this from the perspective of your "average Joe"...who's not a loyalist toward any brand.

I'm in the market now for a "three row large crossover or mid-size SUV". When I started looking I just assumed that I would not even give a second glance at any Chrysler product due to exactly what you mentioned: "the negative reputation Chrysler worked so hard to build over the years." Add to that...there are VERY few Durangos on the road in my area (Northern NJ, USA) compared to the Lambdas. It seems like you can't drive 2 miles without seeing at least one Acadia AND an Enclave.

But after having done research...I have to agree 100% with what you said. As far as what's offered in the vehicles, chrysler has surpassed Ford and GM, and this among other things has made me take a serious look at the WK2 platform.

the GM Lambdas have the interior space / utility advantage for my needs, but the Dodge Durango (particularly the '14 MY, if I can assume it will have most of the tech/features of the '14 GC talked about in this thread) should be a better driver...and will clearly outpace the Lambdas in terms of the "tech inside." I cannot believe that you can't even get touch entry / push button start on the $50K lambdas as an option! And the gauge cluster on the newly refreshed '13 lambdas looks like it's circa 2006....because it is!

I won't ultimately decide on which vehicle I go with (Lambda or WK2/WD refresh) until the WDs are out...but the quality and features of the WK2/WD platform have in fact put the Durango on my "short list." The only question is whether or not I should wait it out a full year or so and see what the Grand Wagoneer might bring....

I think considering your particular situation, waiting it out will be your best option. 1) the Durango is slated to be replaced by the Wagoneer, so if you do ultimately decide on a Durango, you'll probably find a great deal on one, closer to/shortly after Wagoneer launch. 2) we don't know for sure exactly what segment the Wagoneer will target. By this I mean, Acadia/Enclave and other 3 row mid size trucks, or Escalade/Suburban, and the more full size three row crowd. I say this bc in talking to a vendor who's company makes the majority of the underbody framing for our vehicles, I learned that the Wagoneer's rear floor pan will be longer than even the WD's current pan, which of course is significantly longer than the WK's. This could mean a larger all around vehicle, that may be outside of what you're looking for. 3) the nameplate.. If the Wagoneer finds to be something that DOES suit you, then with it comes a tad bit more brand reliability. It's a Jeep. Not saying the Durango is any less of a truck bc it's a Dodge, bc after all they're built on the same line with much of the same guts. But the nameplate DOES infleunce sales, and sales extend a products life. I hate that the Durango only gets one cycle. It's a beautiful vehicle. It just came at the wrong time IMO. I believe the Durango refresh will indeed include many of the '14 WK features, and probably a more significant exterior update to try to create a lil more sales traction. But we'll see come June/July when '14 WD is SUPPOSED to launch.. Either way, thx for considering em both! Hope you're happy with whatever purchase you make.

That is very interesting info indeed!

For my needs, if you took the current durango, and extended it mybe 6 inches (ultimately so there was a bit more cargo room behind the 3rd row seat), it would be pretty much be my ideal vehicle. Looks like there's a chance that the Wagoneer could be just that.

Is it still intended to be introduced late '13 or early '14...or is it more like late '14?

Apologies to everyone for the slight thread derailment.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

This is probably the new brown interior color. This was on a luxury series at the LA Auto Show last year. Note that they never offered this color on the luxury series or any other 300.

I'd like that brown color on a Summit - IF it would be arranged the same way as on an Overland. I simply prefer a black dash.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

that doesn't seem too much different than the "new saddle". Maybe a little more browny than orangy which would make PERFECT SENSE AS THEY NEED TO MAKE AN ORANGE EXTERIOR PAINT OPTION! They wouldn't want to have too much orange.

I hope I'm right. By the way, I haven't seen much from Milous lately. I wonder if he's gearing up for another "tidbit".
