Apologies to everyone for the slight thread derailment.
Honestly man, I have no idea.. Same for the Maserati. Rumor on that is we're only gonna be building the bodies now, and it'll be hand built somewhere else. Idk (smh).. But I imagine whatever retooling that needs to be done for both will be done in Jan. while we're down. So we should know more in the next couple months.

And no worries, this thread is on life support without Milous' updates.

Remember guys, there is nothing stopping us from building all 4 here at JNAP. Durango does not HAVE to disappear for Waggy.

Although I'm an eternal optimist, I'm gonna have to bet against this happening. But it would be nice! I think it'd force them to go back to a traditional 3 shifts tho. There's no way we'd get anything close to the numbers they want with this ABC-shift crap.. But if there's an uptick in WD sales, I'd like to see it stay.

Sn: Anybody know anything more abt what's gonna happen with the Challenger? Did they decide to keep it, or is it still up in the air?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

First, I would like to thank everybody for all of the info in this thread. I have a 2003 Durango that I bought new that I'm looking to replace with another vehicle in the next year or so. This site has been a great resource to help learn about the GC.

Read an article today stating that China will be producing all Jeep models. Does this mean they will close production in the US or will China just add to the Jeep production? Prefer to keep money here when possible.

Have you read any of this Thread? If not you should read all 146 pages and then re-think your post.. I'm not trying to be mean but it's just funny. If you haven't noticed (or read), there are a few people that are big part of this thread that work for chrysler and will be building the GC in Michigan, NOT CHINA!!

Can you give us the link so we can check this "awesome" source that is saying that?

I read this article on the internet that said blah blah blah, OMG if its on the internet it has to be TRUE!! j/k

NOT true.. Here's a link to clarify; Potential Jeep production in China will not affect Toledo

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I could be wrong ... it happens.

My take on the article was that they hadn't decided to build all or some of the Jeep line-up in China ... for the Chinese market.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Lol @skiingmaniac00... Give the guy a break, that's his first post. (Welcome Ratzy..)

And I believe that original article came from Bloomberg. It's been corrected. The link I provided doesn't mention the GC, but this was the cause of a big stir a few months back and was immediately shot down. China will (if it happens) have support plants, but will NOT steal our production.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Skiingmaniac, yes I have read the thread hence why I said thanks for the info in this thread. And yes I caught on to the fact that people on this thread work at Chrysler and it is those people's jobs I am trying to preserve by buying US made vehicles.

Thanks for the other responses and the clarifications.

Now will the 2014 GC have the 8.4" screen? Kidding.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'm just giving him crap, nothing more. I personally wouldn't buy a vehicle that was made in china either.

I have a question for Marlon or Chevyboy if you can answer. I thought I read that you guys are shutting down to retool or get ready for the '14...When is that going to be any idea?

I can appreciate the very "un-GM" approach to not having models among different makes competing with one another. So on the face of it, having both the Waggy and the Durango appears to go against this. However, if it does turn out that the Wagoneer is essentially a "luxury segment" extended length Durango, I can see there being room for both the Dodge and the Jeep. That would mean the Waggy would probably start in the mid $50Ks. The Waggy would be competing more with the Audi Q7s, Escalades, Mercedes GLs, etc. Different segment than the Durango really.

It has always seemed odd to refresh the durango for what would be only one model year. One would think if the Durango was going to be killed off, they would just extend the '13 model year Durango until the Wagoneer debuts.
