2016 should be the final model year of the WK2. Doesn't make sense to have any type of redo, just minor updates. If things go similar as the WK did, then most likely the upcoming changes will be delayed until the 2018 WK SRT8.

I am just guessing though

As far as I know, the big change will be CY16 - but not MY16.

The new model should be introduced sometime in 2016 as MY17.

In my opinion, they might as well quit now if the base price of the Wagoneer is going to be $55K. The Q7, MDX, and JX start around $45,000 or less. A fully loaded Enclave caps out at $51,000. These will all be cross-shopped in the three row "premium" SUV segment.

As Jeep's first entry into the segment, they cannot price it $3,000 higher than a Lexus GX, which starts at $52,000. Personally, I don't see how they could legitimize a starting price over $45,000. If they want to kill it (in a good way), they'll start it around $40,000 and undercut the MDX by $3K.

I am SOOO ready for a Wagoneer features thread, or at least some information.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Waggy is still a ways away.

I don't think it will be luxury-only oriented. I can see it being a 3 row Grand Cherokee with a different body. Chrysler isn't stupid.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

A good starting point will be around $35K and top out around $52K. Similar to the $17K range on the GC but taking into consideration of the 3rd row. (This is just based on the current price of the WK2, which will change by the time the "Waggy" comes out. Maybe starting at $37K and $55K top out is good for when it comes) But where does that leave the market which the Durango sought after which starts at $29K?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

IF

IF

The two will be produced simultaneously, they will still be marketed to two different types of people. The Jeep will be a traditional SUV, and the Durango will be the crossover like it is now.

And "traditional" SUV carries a higher price tag.

The starting pricing stated a couple posts ago is wishful thinking, but that's abt it. Personally, I don't wanna get into speculating pricing, bc nobody knows anything abt it at this point, other than the name, so I don't wanna turn anyone off before they even have details. Auburn Hills may be sitting on a concept to unveil at NAIAS, but until then, this convo is useless.

But consider this if you will.. No automaker needs three SUVs for practically the same market. So the Durango may or may not stay, but I'd put my money on the latter. Which (as is the case now) leaves a segment to be filled. But in order for it to be an effective seller, I'd imagine it'll be closer to higher end. There's a huge gap between the GC and the Maserati. And in order for the GW to have a chance, it'd have to be above the market of those who'd buy a Summit, but below those who can afford a $160k Maserati. Bc pricing it low, and given the choice, they'd just buy a Summit. Which leads to the same problems we're having now with the Durango. It's nice. It starts off cheap. It seats 7. (6 with the captains chairs option.) But how many ppl choose it over a GC. Apparently not many, considering our build most days is AT least 70/30. Understandably much of the GC's sales are from exports, but the WK kills the WD here at home too! If they introduced it as a competitor to the QX, Escalade, Navigator, and so on, I cant say I'd be surprised. Anybody following me...?

(Aside to Scott - what is the record for a thread on this forum anyway? This one's up to 150 pages on my browser and seems to have a lot of steam left!)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

"Traditional SUV" *can* carry a higher price tag, but that doesn't mean that it *will*.

Then again, they say that the Commander killed Grand Cherokee sales in the past considering how close in price they were. A higher price tag will fix this, but it doesn't make a difference to us as long as our line runs.

I'm thinking Waggy prices will be similar to the spread of the Tahoe and Suburban.

Sidenote: I can't wait until Monday, October 29th! (Tomorrow)

C Crew FTW.
