Lol...I'm a Yankee fan...you're going to complain to me about "hitting the damn ball!!" .

Again...sorry folks for the thread hijack...so no more on the Waggy from me in this thread either.
I want a body on frame chrsyler product that would compete with the suburban. In either ram or jeep form.

Btw, is this the same Joeyd from ls1gto.com?

Then again, they say that the Commander killed Grand Cherokee sales in the past considering how close in price they were. A higher price tag will fix this, but it doesn't make a difference to us as long as our line runs.

I'm thinking Waggy prices will be similar to the spread of the Tahoe and Suburban.

Sidenote: I can't wait until Monday, October 29th! (Tomorrow)

C Crew FTW.
Why can't you wait until Monday, Oct 29th? Tidbit?

He was referencing the new shift/hours we've been talking abt, effective tomorrow.

They're cutting us down from basically 2 shifts 60+ hrs each, and adding 1,100 workers to create an additional shift. The benefit is they save a lot of money from paying us higher "tiered" ppl tons of overtime, and can get practically the same production (maybe a lil' more) with more new hires.

The reason they're called A,B and C shifts is bc it isn't a traditional 3 shift deal. "A" shift (composed of mainly high senority ppl) works M-Th, on days. "B" shift works W-Sa on afternoons. And "C" shift fills in the gaps working afternoons on M and Tue, and day shift on Fri and Sa. Each shift works a total of 4 days, 10hrs ea. Which equates to 120 hrs production. Basically the same as what we've already been doing.

From what I understand, MOST plants that have tried this, (including Ford and GM plants), soon switch to a traditional 3 shifts, in the cases where demand warrants it of course..

But I love the fact that more ppl get a job, and will willfully give up the extra $30k+ a year for someone else to make it. As long as that's the case!! But when the name of the game is sales and fulfilling orders, I don't see this lasting long. It's as if they're tripping over a dollar to pick up a dime! FILL THESE F'N ORDERS, AND WHAT Y'ALL PAY US WON'T EVEN COMPARE TO THE PROFITS! Duh!???

Ok.. I'm done.. Sorry folks. I know some of y'all could care less, but for those that do... Now you know.

... Oh and btw, we've been training these new ppl for months, and they would NOT be allowed to participate in building your vehicle(s) if they couldn't cut it. So don't worry folks. Lol.. Things aren't like they used to be with Chrysler. Unfortunately the same can be said abt the UAW, but that's a WHOLE different story! (smh)

I hate the idea of QL and its extra complexity, weight, and potential service/reliability issues, and have no use for it. I was very geeked about the '14s but this situation will just make me hold onto my '08 WK 4.7L w/QDII for now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

just as a side note, wifey and i were looking at 3 row vehicles(Q7, Tahoe, X5 w/ 3rd opt) as we were buying our future yoder toter(kid hauler). We drove the audi, bmw, m-class, and ultimately thought jeep was the nicest overall pkg. Wish it had the diesel, didn't really want to wait so we got a '13 hemi. When the diesel comes, we'll give it a year, and look at trading. We had an '08 w/ merc diesel, great mileage, nice oomph, nice. I've heard Banks has a version of the VM Diesel up to 600hp, obviously not street legal, but I have read in some truck/diesel magazines the diesel might get 275hp, 425tq. I think that would be nice, the bmw diesel at 265/425 moves pretty swift, and with the 8spd and those power ratings(265-275hp/425ish torque), the jeep would move smartly and give my hemi a little what just passed me. Like my 800tq cummins dually, i surprise a few folks now and again...just squeeze the throttle and gone

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

And that Banks motor was with stock block, and other parts i thought would've had to have been replaced. I guess what i'm getting at is, it could be easily tuned from the factory for a little more than anticipated, and obviously detuned for the wrangler(hopefully by the time we buy our next one...been gone a month and miss the JK) somewhere around 190hp/350tq(hopefully more). Looking forward to the diesel getting hear, and hopefully get QD and QL next time. Overall though this is the 10th jeep in the family, and I don't really see any reason for us to leave jeep...our 3rd in 4yrs(wifey changes her mind A LOT)...I think she's trying to keep the jeep plant(s) open herself!

Well tell your wife we thank her!

And where is Uniontown, OH? I'll be taking my first road trip next month in mine for Thanksgiving, visiting family in D.C., then meeting friends in Columbus on Saturday for the Michigan/Ohio game. So maybe I'll hop off the pike on the way down (or back) and bring you guys a case of beer or sumn? (That is unless you guys are Ohio State fans. lol)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I believe coach Woody said we won't even stop for fuel in Meeshigan, we'll push the bus! But regardless, I root for other Big10 teams. Uniontown kind of between Canton and Akron. About 2hrs north of Columbus, or 1hr 15min if you hurry. You'll probably be coming from DC across the south side of PA for a straight shot to Columbus to catch Rt70 I assume, so you'll be pretty south of us. All depends how you get to Columbus, on the way out to DC, off turnpike we are about 45 min south where Rt77 hits turnpike. Yes, she already said, if she can't take not having the wrangler, she'll just go buy one, or I can get her one when she graduates her MBA. I told her, you're killing me smalls...she didn't get it. SANDLOT stupid, she was likeDrive safe, if there's any weather, OH people seem to forget winter comes every year, and they forget how to drive in snow, and usually have crap all season tires. Blizzaks FTMFW!
