Will production start with the 8 speed tranny and the 8.4" display or is that going to be phased in later in the model year?

I've been told that these features will be available at launch, but it's possible that 8-spd Hemi models could be "later availability" - still trying to verify this.

Wow. That's a short cycle. I think we will wait until the 2014 SRT8 is available. Thanks for the update!

Perhaps Chrysler did not even want a 2013 model year. Which I don't blame them, since that's a bad luck number; the same reason why some buildings skip it on their floors. Sergio is from Italy, a very religious country.

We're looking to get the pentastar anyhow, so as long as I can get the v6 with the 8 speed and the new 8.4" display at launch, looks like I'll be ordering a 2014 in just 8 months....

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I have been trying to purchase an in-stock 2012 JGC Limited V6, stone white with light frost beige/black, luxury group II, 730n and 20" wheels, but have been unable to find anything within an 800 mile radius of Denver.

Based on the information Milous just posted, I will be ordering one as soon as the banks open in December.

Milous, I can't thank you enough for posting all of the information/updates on the '14 model!

-----------------------------------------------------
2014 model year SRT8 Performance Pages example:

(Performance pages feature timers measuring 0-60 mph, one-eighth mile and quarter-mile runs. Lateral and longitudinal G-forces, steering angle, horsepower and torque output and 60-0 breaking distance are all neatly displayed on the vivid 8.4-inch touchscreen. )

3 questions about this:

1) will the 8 speed shifter be normal or will it be a dorky dial knob or crappy shifter like in the 8 speed chargers?

2) will the ability to remotely lock/unlock and start your jeep remotely from your smartphone be a subscription-based service?

3) regarding the start/stop technology with the v6, will there be an override in the EVIC. The last thing I want during winter time here at 50 below 0 is for my engine to shut off every time I stop at a light. Most of us idle our cars most of the day during the winter months here to keep the engine at operable temps in the winter.

Seems to me the hemi probably doesn't need the 8-speed anyway. I think I would be fine with the current trans. What I really want is the new dash! And Steel blue metallic like my current WJ.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Interesting, looks like the new SRT is getting the same single center unified touchscream my 88 has, just in color (Olds Trofeo had color but Buick is just white on black). Bet Chrysler can do it with one module though, Reatta needed nine. Wonder if it will include the OFF/WARM/ear wiggle to get into ODB-II displays.

Might go for a set of those clear/LED tallights, wonder if I'll need some resistors.

It is helpful to have someone who actually knows even if you have to be very careful about how to word things.

Thank you,

ps any bets on a flappy paddle shifter ?

Not 100.00% certain that it will continue for the 2014 model year - but based on its popularity so far, I would say that most likely it will be on the 2014 schedule.
