I just talked to a second source who was physically at the show and saw the entire SRT presentation by R Gilles and there was NO Durango SRT in the presentation. He did say he was not there for the Dodge presentation...but the Durango SRT wouldve been in the presentation by RG if it were true.

Now...I would LOVE to see the Durango SRT...I just think someone is mistaken.

He is probably mistaking the 2014 Durango for an SRT. There has been ONE 2014 Durango pilot built, and does hint at sportier styling. I assume this show is where it was sent. But there will NOT be an SRT8 Durango.

Really?

When was it built? I must have missed it. :(

2014s are looking good... very good...

There are many meanings. What I recall from the Olds Bravada was Suburban Utility Vehicle. Have thougt that many should be SAVs: Suburban Assault Vehicles.

Many other meanings of S, "Sport", "Special", or "Supercharged"; L can mean "Luxury", "Limited", "Liter", or "Light"; P can mean "Performance", "Prototype", or "Profit"; E can be "Edition", "Extra", "European", or FI; K: Short or Boosted; T can be "Touring" or Track; G is generally "Grand"; C "Coupe" or boosted. I "injected" or "International"; R "Race" or "Road".

This can lead to some strange combinations like SSKL, TII, SLK vs SLC, & SSJ or the most famous "Homolgated Grand Touring" (used by three different car lines and an IMSA racing class with a different meaning).

The whole name game is a mass of mix and match.

One feature that I would love on the interior would be for it to have power reclining rear seats like the Range Rover. It already has the same concept, why not just add a power reclining option or standard to higher-end trims. Also if the Rear Dvd is on the back side of the chair instead of the headrest, they should power folding up or they should be recessed in the back of the seat and raise up with the push of a button, kinda like the Audi and Cadillac screens upfront. If I'm paying for these options, they should be or rival the best. Chrysler has the ability to do it. Whether they do or not is up to them!

#869 ·
Then people should say that about KIA and Hyundai which both have had a terrible start in the US but look at them now. They are pushing even further upmarket with every new design. So why can't Chrysler, who has a vast and innovative history.

The new Ford Explorer has power folding third row seats!

Chrysler brings exclusive products at a more affordable price. They can do it!

Oh and nobody said they had to buy it. That's why its called optional which mostly all cars have options not this it the car and this is the price.

I wonder what the colors will be for 2014? Or will they pretty much keep the same colors from 2013.
My husband is going to wait until the 2014's are out to check them out and test drive one of them, as well as a wrangler umlimted.

If he weret to get a GC.......the color fav's are maximum steel, mineral grey, true blue, black forest green, and then i guess black. If they keep those colors that would be awesome! and maybe add some new ones.....:)

#873 ·
I've read in previous posts that the colors will be the same (unfortunately). The maximum steel actually looks black in person so it's not as nice in my opinion as the pictures online are. If you go up to the summit you can get a rugged brown one.

I don't think either of us are willing to get fired over some pictures. :)

Considering there is a bet going on, I'm not denying nor confirming a change of wheels.

I went over there today and saw a few of em.. Apparently the shift WAS cancelled, but last I heard the news said we were supposed to report. I never got that "don't come" call. Hard to believe all that's happened..

Anyway, so since I was already there, I decided to ride over that way before I left. The bet was whether or not the '14 SRTs will retain the current wheel design. He was under the impression that they'd go back to something similar to the WK1 SRT design. I told him the current Black Chrome wheels would prolly be around for a while. Indeed, ALL the '14 SRTs I saw had those wheels on em. Have you seen any other design yet? I do suspect they'll unveil a new wheel with next years special edition models tho. There's just too much demand for something different. But not at initial launch. We all know how this industry works.

Lastly, I read in another thread that the '14 WK2 will have the Durango taillights. That's ABSOLUTELY FALSE people! Lol.. There's a slight resemblance, but they're really worlds apart. No way they can be mistaken. But yes, the headlights are stunning. New fascia and grille may grow on me, but I'm not impressed thus far. Personally I think the selling points will be the trans and new Nav. And don't knock the new console and gear selector too much ppl. It's actually kinda cool to me..

It's clean. :)

I got the call at 3:02PM. I did hear reports that more than a few people did not get called. However if you called the security office (7414), they would have told you.

The new fascia had to grow on me too. I really like the new Laredos. I've never been a fan of chrome and the increased amount on the Limited and Overland is... ehh...

#887 ·
Not from what I've seen.. But as Marlon stated, the Laredo is MUCH improved! Doesn't look boring anymore. Like a rental car. (No offense to anyone.) It just seems to have its own character now, even in base trim.

And I agree abt the chrome.. Especially the Summit. It's getting excessive. But some will love it! Yet I suspect a lot of ppl will opt. for well equipped Laredo's.

I have a 2012 Overland Hemi in Brilliant Black with color matched mirror caps and rear brow, but my perfect Jeep is a 2014 S-Limited (with gloss black in place of all of the chrome) and exterior color of Black Clear Coat (same as gloss black) and painted fender flares and lower fascias, with a leather dash (with white or silver stitching) and leather stitched middle console and leather upper door trim; if they actually make it (at some point)! I'm hoping..., and then I'll get a set of 20" polished wheels.

It surprises me how much they are sticking on the truck. I don't like chrome at all unless its on the rims!!! I have a black overland so it has chrome sticking out everywhere. It sucks because not only is it ugly but it doesn't wear well at all. Touch the stuff by the windows with your watch or a ring and it will leave a permanent mark/scratch.

Other than that I love my 2011. I'm curious about the 2014 headlights and I'd like to get better mileage but all the rest of that stuff is minor.

I'd much rather see a front electric LSD than anything else. The ABS traction control is TERRIBLE in snow mud or sand. It just makes a ton of noise, robs power and wears parts.

Half the time the door ding numpers don't work because the other car doors don't line up with them. I've had both my cars for 13 and 10 years with only one ding.(wife had it and didn't park as requested) The ding was way up high on the door where the bar wouldn't have helped. I'll go without.
