Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I think Jeep should offer the Summit in 2014 with beige interior and black wood, and also black interior and black wood. Or just black wood as an option on Overland. And offer the exterior in Black Clear Coat.

By the time you can get this in your GC, this screen and PowerNet architecture will have been out since the 2012 were released in or around July 2011 and with it already being in the Charger, 300, Journey, Dart and Ram by the time it's in the Jeep, I wouldn't make "that" the reason you choose not to purchase. The bugs will be worked out as much as any other year and car you'll buy down the road. But thats my opinion.

I guess you're right. Based on the super short timeframe the 2013 will be produced (5-6 months), it doesn't make sense purchasing a 2013. I'm better off waiting till december and ordering a 2014 with all the updates.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hats off to Milous for sharing the exciting changes coming to the Grand Cherokee! In regards to the diesel, will it be getting the start-stop feature and the Summit trim package or will these changes only be for the gas models?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Start-stop is of limited interest here unless it comes with an electric a/c.

Agree, there is nothing to be afraid of with an electronic dash, as it becomes unified, it becomes even more reliable, just the place to get it fixed should be Best-Buy or Comp-USA and not a dealer.

Just as we switched from analog telephones and modems to DSL and VOIP, cars are transitioning from "cars with electronics" to "the car as just another app" run by the same type (maybe even the same computer) you use to surf the web, order from Amazon, get road information, and open your garage door.

Using the fobik for hands-free is almost trivial to the car recognising who you are, remembering the seat position, preferred climate, and whether you finished watching a movie regardless of what seat you sit in. NAV is just another display.

Stop thinking "car" and start thinking "airline" seat.

Am just one step away from doing this today believe it or don't, the hard part is getting the Android (Android is more flexible than iOS right now) tablet I velcro'd on the dash to accept a video input from the back up camera - can get an output in composite or HDMI no prob, but an input...

Meanwhile thank you again for what you can say, coming from an authoritative source, a lot can be read into it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Thanks again Milous! This is really highly appreciated!

In Germany they currently sell a Limited-S (which equals the Altitude model in the US). Is there anything on the availability of these models for the 2014 MY?

Thx Robert

The 2014 Durango is currently scheduled to start production 4 months after the WK2.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Wonder if that means that dealers can order 2014s near the end of the year but the public announcement will be in Jan - think that is the earliest the next MY can be announced unless something has changed.

Big thing is that sounds like HVAC and Media/nav are being combined in a single scream - big improvement.
