Great news! My dealer told me that I could only order a new CRD in January (which now seems to be correct but was probably a lucky strike ) and should plan with a delivery in Q2, otherwise I would need to take what is in stock. It's worth the wait ...

Now maybe allocation came into play and dealers did not get enough orders in, Pat would be better qualified to answer that. As long as production isn't moved back, the change of the order open date would have a negligible impact on those awaiting the new models. But nothing is 100% certain until it happens, better to not break out the champagne until the first '14 retail model rolls off the line.

The Jeep SRT has been a bona fide hit worldwide, it will be well into the '14 model year (or beyond) before they are even close to meeting the demand.
Would reopening the order banks on the '13 keep a smooth flow of product going, without having to shut down for a changeover? If I was a Jeep bean counter I would be concerned that if the dealers went to zero invenrtory, even for a couple of weeks, they could lose customers to other brands.

Is Kokomo's 8 speed production ramping up as scheduled to support the added demand from WK2 starting in late January?

I am assuming you are a non-US customer (export) correct?? Many of us have been assuming the US CRD would be delivered around May 2013 at the latest... if this new news of "late 2013" is correct, I may have to settle for the HEMI.....

Can anyone confirm?!?!?

Milous (or anyone that can help me out)

I've been following this thread very carefully. My current lease expires on Dec 15. I have spoken to the leasing company and they are willing to extend it for 3 months. That will give me until March 15.

How realistic is the idea that I can order an '14 Overland and have it by then? I can't risk being without a vehicle and am trying to see if I will have to settle for a '13 because the timing isn't possible. Anyone?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Did the lease company say only three months? I leased a car once, back in the 90's. Once I showed them I had a car on order, even though I was buying it outright, they were willing to extend the lease until my car came in. Remember, if you turn the car in it could sit on the lot for awhile. As long as you keep it they have money coming in.

THey told me they would extend it for a month and then , if I showed them I had a vehicle on order, another 2. But they wouldn't guarantee anything further than that.

I'm 99.9999999% sure you'll have your Overland by then.. As a matter of fact, if you don't, I'll drive to wherever you live, loan you my Jeep until yours shows up, and fly/catch a bus home.

This schedule shuffle seems to have thrown you guys into a bit of a panic. Which is understandable considering the anticipation.. But I'm gonna need everyone to relax. This stuff happens ALL the time, you guys/gals just don't hear abt it. As a matter of fact, when things happen ON TIME, it's more shocking! So just be cool. '14 WK2 orders WILL go into production before the end of January. I'll bet my credibility on it. (Not that I have much, but whatever..)

As for '14 US CRDs, I knew something was up, bc like I said, we haven't even begun doing any pilots! And if you take into account that we've been doing '14 WK pilots nearly 6 months now, that puts the launch of the '14 CRD back to AT LEAST June now!

But again, calm down.. (Woosaa) lol

I am, Germany, my dealer estimated delivery in June if I order when orderbanks open. Which would be fine, I own my current car and there is no financing involved which I would need to extend.... but I want the GC asap

Settle for a Hemi, I would love to be able to settle for a Hemi but that is a bit crazy in Germany and I can't afford to be that crazy

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

To clarify for the diesel guys... my statement only applied to US CRD orders/customers. For the US guys I assure you I'm pretty accurate, but I'll update when I know more.

I'd expect gas WK2s to start showing up on dealer lots late April early May(largely dependent if mid Jan still holds for orders). I still have yet to to see a production start date for the 14s and looking on my end 13s are still accepting orders. Only change is mineral grey is no longer available on 13 orders.

If I were a betting man I'd place money that production doesn't start till after the unveiling.
