The first 2013 retail Rams started shipping at the end of August, there were some dealers who had them in early September.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I think everyone is missing another important factor. I took a V6 2012 for a test drive and didn't like the feel of the car, I felt it was too heavy for the engine, although its a great engine the 2300kgs was just too much for it. When I got back to the dealer and told him he said I should try the CRD. I didn't consider the CRD as it is a 5k price option, but after driving the CRD the car was fantastic, all that torque made the car feel very smooth, not heavy and perfect. So I was sold on the CRD, and when I found this forum and the 2014 CRD is going to be worth the wait...

The 8speed might change this feel of the V6, though.

A review of the new Ram 1500 linked earlier in this thread gave that engine/trans combo good marks in a heavier vehicle.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The Pentastar RAM "build" is interesting. The HFE with stop-start, agile grille, and tonneau cover is rated 18/25 mpg. The SLT with a 3.55 is 17/25. Have to wonder if the .67 8th coupled with a 3.22 axle is too steep for the Pentastar.

Also the 305 hp rating makes me wonder if they haven't diddled with the cams to make it a little peakier, 8 speed could handle that better than 5. Has the torque curve been released ?

OTOH something like that is ideal for a diesel which has a narrower power band and lotsa low end torque.

One odd thing at Fueleconomy.gov is that for the 2013 RAM 1500, there are two 3.6s listed, one FFV (Flex-Fuel) and one not. Both are 17/25 mpg. Is this significant ?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Does anyone know when the mpg numbers will be released for the Hemi with the 8 speed. They said a 20% mpg increase but is that over the 4 speed or 6 speed auto? 20% over what?

Where did you see 20%? That would be great ... My GC would be an economy car.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'd expect something more akin to 10%-14% personally, but, you never know.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Anyone care to leak more info on the possibility of the SRT getting a twin turbo / turbo V6? That would be great, as then i would have more reason to get it. Fuel here in Europe isn't given away like in the states and a twin turbo V6 would have much better MPG than the the old V8 they use at the moment. Don't get me wrong, i think it sounds awesome, but as my daily driver, i would prefer the better fuel economy. Yes the economy on the CRD is great and very economical, but there's something about the SRT that i've always wanted.
