Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Wow not sure I am digging the front! It looks like a Nissan Murano especially with the brushed silver grille. The back I like a lot better with the new tailgate (looks like an audi q5) and the lights look much better, but a little like the VW's. I am also hoping they have improved the qudra-lift so it doesn't top out so easily and rides better.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Never having owned a GC it looks OK to me. Then again, I'm more interested in what I see, hear, and feel when I'm driving. The rest I only notice when I wash it. If I don't like a car I just don't wash it.

All looks fine to me except the silver Laredo grill. Any chance it's only on this particular early build example?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I hope so ! In the very first post Milous recorded the front LED DRL would only be on Limited and up, but here's a Laredo with what appears to be them taped over. Hmmm... Maybe for 2014 there will be more stand-alone options availible on the Laredo.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Painted grille looks good IMO - almost like my old WJ. Current has too much chrome.

Can't wait for pricing for the diesel to get published. I really hope that it will be similar to other markets and equivalent bump as the HEMI. I was waiting for the diesel to replace my WJ, but it became a complete hassle so it had to go. Not sure I want to take an earlier than planned depreciation hit on my current snow car which is barely a year old, but that diesel and WK2 size would fit my needs perfectly. Now if they could only offer a good third interior color option for the Limited, I really might have to do it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hopefully the Diesel is priced well. What Im worried about is that dealers won't be willing to deal the CRD at or around invoice which is what you can get the other models for...so even it the MSRP is the same as the Hemi the sale price will be thousands higher.

Wow, I can live with the front being redone, but the back of the Jeep...Yawn boring! I hope the Overland and SRT8 look better than this. As of now I guess I will keep my 2011 Overland...not impressed at all.

In the new pics.. the tape on the headlights.. does it cover the headlight washers? or is this not available on 2014 just on 2013?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Dont really care for the front grille, like the head lights and the fog light housing, eh on the tails, like that the chrome is gone from across the back. I like the current front end, its more rugged. The refreshed design is nice, but not enough for me to trade my current Jeep in!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

*sigh* I knew this was gonna happen.. I called it abt 100 pages ago. When I FIRST saw a '14, I wanted to start looking for a new job. If this thing outsells the '11-13s, I'll be happy, but surprised.. It's definately an upgrade, EXCEPT the one place that counts the most.. The exterior. I presume it'll grow on you guys/gals as it has me, but this is like an overhyped blind date with someone who turns out to be not so hot.. lol

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I wonder if changes to the front end were dictated by the need to squeeze a little bit more MPGs by improving aerodynamics. Seems like the new grill is smaller and overall front more rounded. Definitely not as rugged as 11-13 MY. The grayish 2 color grill on Laredo looks horrendous. Hopefully this gray will not turn into chrome on Overland/Summit.

Back looks like Durango. Shape of the taillights is actually different but the proportions are about the same. Just like on Durango the new taillights dominate the back end of the car.

I'm also hoping that this is NOT a final version of the car so I would wait for the official photos.

Not really happy about the changes as they look like kind of a step towards crossover. Before I will make my decision I will wait for MPG and 0-60 numbers with the new 8 speed. Hopefully there will be no disappointment in that department.

On the other hand if those numbers will disappoint than you can always try to score a deal on 2013. Probably plenty of them will still be around and once this info becomes official I would think you will be able to get a sweat deal.
