Well, let's hope the SRT version will blow us away because that front end is lame.

I fully agree with this. However, I still believe that the overall product is a good step forward. Would I trade a current WK2 for it, not sure, will I wait for a 14, sure!! There are so many improvements I like, so the grille will not change this. And I get the impression that the color choice is important to the looks of the grille!

A question for the guys who build the GCs, any chance that the old grille would fit on the 14 models?

Why are you being so negative all of a sudden??? Its like the first photos came out and you are saying "I told you so"... seems to contrdict all the workers who so far seem to have been really excited about the 14s...I have to be honest I feel a bit deceived... and I mean that in the most lighthearted way.

If you remember a lot of the earlier post you will see that most of the excitement was drawn toward the technology. Now, if I remember the GC guys who build our kick ass Jeeps never really commented on the styling except that maybe it was different. LOL I hope for the guys buying an 14 Overland or OSummit they don't slap a chrome grille across the front.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

How disappointing.....and that's all the way from Australia. The whole reason sales had taken off for the JGC Wk2 was that grunty masculine grille...and they have removed it. I am sure it will effect sales in the negative. After waiting so long I now need to think again.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'm a bit disappointed too, especially because I did like the grille which gave the car the perfect bold look. All the other parts were nice too and I even like the other changes to the 14 but I think they changed a key design feature the wrong way. But I still hope that the final summits or overlands may look a bit different or the grille may go a bit better with different colors. I even think the Laredo front looks ok.

It's a bit like with the 300C, the previous one (the one I own) really looks great. The current one is probably much better. But I'm looking to buy a GC because I think it's better looking.

I will still go for a 14 GC as it is still a great car!!!! I'm still looking forward to own one!!!! And I think we should all not be so negative!

Sure!.. Of course you'd have to do a complete front fascia swap. Which mean you'd lose the new headlights.

Although much of the new stampings for the '14s have different part numbers, the fit on assembly side remains relatively the same. Whenever they do slight adjustments, or stud relocations or additions/subtractions, they have to change the "level" of a part no. As in part no. 7654321aa to 7654321ab.. When a part no. changes completely, it usually represents significant changes from MY to MY. But as I learned a couple weeks ago, much of the changes in MY '14 front floor pans are stud related, and yet they still changed the part no. completely. (This affects collision shops more than anyone else, as it pertains to metal parts.)

But anyway, to sum it up, yes, it can be done.. There may be more involved than meets the eye, but it'd definately be A LOT easier to do that, than the guy out there who's gonna try to retrofit an RA4 into his '11-13! lol
