If the "mystery" is whether or not you will get the Summit, I confirmed it quite a few months back. Info is still scarce but I have started a page covering what's known so far and will update as new info becomes available:

Milous, at Post #10059 back on the 12th February you started an Aussie forum. Now I know you have done the best you can and you cannot read into the minds of OZJEEP. They are aparrently a strange mob over here who may not want to go along with the rest of the world with the introduction of a Summit. I know I have been a bit persistent on this one and I keep trying to back you into a corner but are you still hoping to get the scoop of the year by posting that you are now seeing Aussie RHD Summits coming down the line?
I want to stress I have no hard feelings about the information you have posted todate. As I said, they're a strange mob over here. Ozjeep are sure to sweep the Aussie market with record sales over here, I am confident they are going to knock off Toyota Prado and Land Cruiser who hold the title of most sales for SUV's. It would just be nice if they would offer some old fashion customer service to go with the great car you guys have produced.

Just ordered a 2014 summit, v6, white, jeep brown interior. Any ideas from the community on how long the build time will be? I just got my vots email from jeep but it just states "production scheduled" thanks!

#10,801 ·
5-10 weeks would be a guess. If you become a site supporter (lvl 3 or higher), you can have Milous track it for you and then you would be given an ETA on delivery.

*cough* Remember back when I said they realized they were leaving money on the table???.. Well here's to insane amounts of orders, and a whole bunch of awards! ($$$ Upsell, and overcharge. $$$)

They've produced the best car. You can't expect it to be the cheapest in the market any longer. When you excel yourself in your employment you would like to be rewarded. That's how life normally works. On the other hand, they could just sell them below market acceptance and go broke again....then what quality of car are they going to make? Now, if you feel you are paying too much come over to Australia and see what we are paying for your cars. You'd be really crying then.

#10,816 ·
This whole thing about wanting it to be the cheapest car is funny. As a country we want to make products that rival the worlds best, we want to get paid as much as possible, but them we complain that our products are too expensive.... Quality costs money, if you want a cheap car buy a Kia if you want a great car buy a jeep gc but dont expect to pay as much for a jeep as you would a kia....No one is telling you to buy a 50k suv there are alot of options out there espescially cheaper ones....I am willing to pay for a well made American made product without complaining because if those people at the plants, engineers to assembly line workers have good paying jobs they spend money in this country also, and some of that money trickles back to all of us in some way....Maybe its time we showed the world that we were and once again can be a manufacturing superpower...

#10,820 ·
Thanks guys, I really think we would be in alot better shape as a country if we transformed at least half of the warehouses that have been built to store oberseas products we buy in the past 10+ years into factories that make the profucts we buy but to do that we need to buy our own products and not rely on the rest of the world to buy them...coming from a blue collar family its important to me, we didnt get to where we were by importing everything...Ive owned all dufferent types of cars, and I just decided that Ive supported enough people in Germany and Japan already and would rather buy a 65k jeep thats built in Detroit than a 65k foreign car made somewhere else, it applies to alot of products other than cars, and Ill admit Im not perfect, we all buy alot of foreign made goods, but I am trying to make an effort to change that at least in my household...Hopefully everyone understands where Im coming from, not trying to preach, or tell anyone what to buy, just explaining to the guy complaining about the 4k increase why I dont mind paying it...

I didnt mean to call you out, and sorry if it seemed that way, I hear it from some of my friends lately " oh my god why would you pay that much for an american car?!?"so its been a topic ive been talking about with alot of people lately. I think these cars are as good or better than most imports. When you were talking about the the 4k or whatever the amount was, I thought you were complaining that the price went up for no reason, and i was just trying to say that they made major improvements to the gc's. Then I went off on a patriotic tangent. I understand that many parts are still made overseas, and so on. Im just sayin that anything we can do helps. I myself and trading in my wifes lexus for the srt, its the last import i bought. Its funny I recently had to drive down to southern illinois on business and drove through smaller towns, and there were some factories, shops, etc., and i noticed EVERY car parked outside these places was domestic, yet in the city there are alot more imports than domestics.and i remembered when I was in germany, and ill tell you, you will be hard pressed to see anything other than german cars on the roads be it in small towns or larger cities. Not because they dont like american cars, its because they support their own. Im not saying if you buy an import youre a commie or anything like that haha, everyone has their own opinions and tastes and some cars look better to some than others, or they better suit your needs, just a personal decision to try to buy american. Idk just something thats been on my mind lately, and needed to vent....

@white6.4 Chrysler will be contacting you about putting something together for next years inspiring Superbowl slot. :D

White,

I agree with your premise, but it ain't easy. I'll be trading my only foreign car, an MDX, to buy my Jeep. But my MDX has almost as many American made parts as the Jeep. I think the Jeep window sticker says 68%. I think I read that the Jeep has a Mexican built Hemi engine and a German built ZF tranny. The MDX has a Japanese tranny, but a US built motor. Acura either already has, or is about to move their assembly to the US ... From Canada.

What I do like about the Jeep is that it is keeping "Made in Detroit" alive. But it is reported that the car with the most U S made parts is a Toyota. It makes me want to scream that one of the 'big three" doesn't hold that distinction.

I have a few complaints about the 2014 GC, but price is not one of them.

I like the way ya'll think. @white--US Navy? Just a guess with your patriotic eagle and home location of a Naval Air Station...just one vets guess here.

I'll hop on briefly in this string of "buy US" threads, I work for Enterprise rental, and have always bought what I thought was the best quality for what I needed at whatever price it was. In the 80's through the early 2000's that wasn't necessarily a US product unless you wanted a heavy pickup. With what I see coming from all US manufacturers in our current rental fleet shows me we are BACK to building cars that will compete with anything again. I'm here because I'm buying a JGC with a DIESEL-finally! But if I was buying a mid size sedan, I'd look hard at 200's, Fusions, Malibus and even a diesel Cruz. The 300 and the new Taurus are amazing as well. We're BACK with a vengeance....

Now if someone would compete in the small (2.0L) diesel market over here....I'd love to see some of the mileage figures Europe sees (50+) over here....I know most automakers think the large American butt won't buy one, but give us a choice!

#10,832 ·
Up until 2013, we had VW and Audi for diesel passenger cars. Now we're getting the cruize and the Mazda 6 in oil burner form. Much like in Australia a few years ago, the manufacturers are starting to see opportunity in the US market and they have to with the CAFE standards now in place.

Anyone know if you can still add tow hooks and skid plates to a 2014 limited, do the front panels just pop out? I'm assuming the style of the tow hooks hasn't changed from 13 to 14? I didn't want the off-road package requirements (lux II) and ordered 20" wheels but would like the extra protection and occasional opportunity to pull some stuff.

Guys, I have just finished watching "Band of Brothers" with Easy Company made by Speilberg & Tom Hanks. You probably have all seen it. If you haven't then do. One of the best series I have seen. A very moving series. Well done.

After I got my new 2014 Overland, I called the phone number in the back of the Users Guide to get paper manuals. They are free to the first buyer of a car.

I just received a Uconnect 8.4A/8.4AN Owner's Manual Supplement - First Edition. It has a section for the 8.4A and a larger section for the 8.4AN. It has 260 pages. I just looked it over briefly and it is the best description of the Nav functions that I have see.

I also got a 630 page Owner's Manual - Second Edition and a 40 page book covering Warranty information - Second Edition.

I highly recommend that new owners order all three.

Thanks Tom,

I wouldn't want to depend on the DVD. I want something that can be left in the car.

The second edition owners manual is already one edition out of date. That really is a shame.

I am glad they have a decent book for the 8.4an.

Not sure if anyone knows but what is the headliner lined with in the srt? Suede? Or faux suede? Or jus standard cloth or whatever it is they always use in cars....

#10,846 ·
Haven't seen anything clear on it... The Sepia/Laguna leather packages are definitely supposed to have suede headliners and A-pillars, as do the the Summits. There have been 2 videos that I have seen with the engineers that have stated "all SRTs have been updated with the suede headliner."

We'll see when it gets here... My guess is that it is only part of the Laguna package, but I wouldn't mind being surprised with it.
