Yea Milous.. Where exactly is "Nottsure, Weir" located? I can't seem to find it even on my Rand McNally truckers Atlas. Is that somewhere between Pleasantville and Hell, MI?

Don't get hung up on the styling until you see one in person. What you may not like will probably grow on you. It *may* be possible to change/mod out *some* of the trim components with other 2014 models. When it's all said and done, when you compare your 2014 model "likes" list with your "dislikes" list, the latter will by far be the shortest list.
Thanks Milous, chevvy and others. Now waiting on what is behind that plastic fill under the headlights and wondering just how much different (for the better I hope) the Overland will look...more chrome than the recent spy pics are revealing I hope. I've just got to come to terms with that disappointing grill which is not unlike the 2010 model which most car reviewers did not speak kindly about.....and this MY14 grille looks too similar to the 2010.....it's giving me nightmares.

Well most of the retooling yet to be done (for this launch) is over in Assembly. Over here in Body, they really just have to change the program on the robots like they've done on pilot days, bc everything's been updated already. As I said before, there's new parts that'll be used on '14 WKs, that the WDs probably won't see (full time) until June. So the robots need to know which parts to pull in areas that the parts are universal now. (Like front floor, dash panel, dash reinforcement, front rails, etc..)

But the BIG retool in Jan. has little to do with either of these vehicles. At least not right now. THAT is for the GW and the Italian Stallion that are coming. At least that's what I was told. Once the '14 WK is launched, '14 WD pilot will ramp up. Once the '14 WD is launched, '15 GW pilot and/or Maserati pilot will begin. So as Milous has stated, things are gonna be hectic around here for a while. Local electrician contractors love this place.

"WS"

'15.

Told you guys.

What retooling does assembly need besides moving jobs and tools around?

I know what they can do. Retool my tugger a new paint job and seat!

Maserati pilot? Are we building it or not? Building bodies to ship out to Italy?

And where the heck is the Subway? I'm hungry.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

A question for those who are familiar with the colors. What color is the Limited in the spy shots, the one which looks like dark grey, is that a color which may be available for 14. Compared to the picture of the dodge in the spy shot thread it can not be maximum steel, can it? I would love a color which looks like the one in the spy shot. The only color I can see that may come close is maximum steel. But unfortunately you never see such color here in Germany, there are to few cars on our street. On pictures maximum steel looks so different from one pic to the other. The same applies to red by the way. Thus I would really apprecite your help.

Thanks!

The Subway is something you ride on, not eat. Because you put "the" infront of it makes it a different thing

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Keep in mind that the same picture taken at the same time with 2 different digital cameras may reproduce colors differently. If they were taken under different light they will look different. The software used to process the images to the web may alter the colors. Lastly, when was the last time your display screen was calibrated.

What I'm saying is don't make any final decisions on color based on what you see on the web.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

That color on the spy pics could have been max steel but it was probably just a leftover can of some gray color they put on a minivan or the 200. Same approach to their preliminary color choices for the 14s. Recycled minivan/200 colors. No respect for the GC.

Maximum steel looks very black in person, it has a purple tint to it as well in bright sunlight, it is VERY sparkly. The way the light bounces off the flecks in the paint you can see many colors in it.
It's a unique color but if you don't like black forget it!

As far as square TV nooks, still a great idea, especially when customized. Flat screen in front, other equipment and wiring behind/below it.

"WS" huh?.. Didn't know that's what the code for it was. I'll have to write that down somewhere for later when I wanna sound important.

And we are doing the Maserati. There were rumors that we'd only build the bodies, and then send 'em anywhere from Connor Ave Assembly just up the road, to be assembled alongside the Viper, to God knows where. But yes, 100% in house.. And I got that from Laura (my Liason to the stiffs upstairs). But I'm sure 'ol Milous will update us if that changes.

And I don't eat Subway anymore. Haven't you seen those Arbys commercials!? THEY DON'T SLICE THEIR MEATS IN HOUSE MAN! They outsourced those jobs to China!!! (Or Iowa.. Same difference.)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

When is the projected next re-do of the grand cherokee? Is it MY 2016? If my differential equations calculus formula is correct that means we have most likely 2+ years before it is released (probably mid-late 2015).
If that's the case, when should we start the 2016 thread?

Also, what is the average percent depreciation the first and second years of a new vehicle? Just thinking out loud- if they butcher the inside and outside colors for the 14s I'm seriously considering waiting for the next re-do. My only hope might be a sweet special edition model- we'll let Chevyboy design it and we'll name it after him. I'll even put an aftermarket Chevy bowtie in the middle of the grill!

Could someone photoshop that for me so I can see what it would look like? Put the Chevy bowtie emblem in the middle of the 2013 Grand Cherokee grill. Thanks!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I believe the next redo is '17 (I could be wrong). As for depreciation, try edmunds as they have a true-cost to own and it shows the depreciation of any vehicle.

On a 2012 GC v6 Limited:
1st yr: $8,800
2nd yr: $3,876
3rd yr: $3,410
