Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hey Marlon,
Let me say first that I am a chiropractor with a previous career in sports medicine/athletic training as well as an EMT so I am very familiar with head trauma and whiplash injuries and how they affect the spine and brain. As you can tell from my avatar, I also have been involved in a huge wreck so I feel your pain with the vehicle as well as your aches & pains that are sure to appear in the next day or two.

Just so you know, it is VERY common to still have concussion and post-concussion syndrome after an accident like yours even if you don't hit your head (headaches, poor concentration, mood changes, sensitivity to light, dizziness, nausea, visual and hearing changes, difficulty sleeping, fatigue, etc...) What happens mostly with concussions is that your brain, which is bathed in fluid (CSF not DEF) gets thrown across the inside of your skull riding a wave. As it reaches the other side it smashes into the skull bones and all their little bony pointy parts. These pointy parts can cause damage. It then rides the wave back and then bashes into the opposite side potentially causing further damage. Feel free to PM me and we can discuss this more privately if you would like.

In addition, your insurance will cover your medical costs so don't hesitate getting checked out by the ER (checking for internal bleeding, etc...) or your regular MD or your chiropractor. For insurance purposes it is so much easier if you get checked out right away and have everything on record. If you wait a few weeks or months and start getting pain because you've tightened up and now everything is compensating for the initial strain your insurance company can easily deny your medical claims. Then you're having pain, you can't work because of the pain/numbness/tingling/weakness...and that means you can't build me my Jeep!

Please get checked out first and I highly recommend you to see a GOOD chiropractor who can help you with proper nutrition along with a massage therapist and even an acupuncturist to get your body healing from the trauma so that the injury pattern doesn't become chronic.

Also, my last recommendation is to stay away from any alcohol for at least a month (top neurologists recommend a year after having a concussion) Even if you might not be having any concussion symptoms, your brain has taken a beating and those cells and tissues that are damaged are extremely sensitive to alcohol and it could make things worse. Sorry dude, you're going to have to give all your beer away to the rest of the crew.

I've always thought that once someone starts driving a mini-van they turn into a shitty driver! Damn mini-vans!

Hope your all right Marlon. Jeeps can be replaced.

Not to sound like a know-it-all, but I've read and heard that every concussion is different. Just something to keep in mind.

Glad you're okay though. T-Bones are one of the most dangerous types of accident because of how little space is between you and the other car, and there's almost no crumple zone.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Ready to replace my 2000 JGC Limited (180k miles) with a 2014 Overland (V6, AdpCruise pkg, Mineral Grey with saddle black interior) ASAP. Have been looking at 2013's but think it wise to wait a few months for 2014 (better nav/radio, mpg, perforormance). What is best estimate of when such a vehicle will become available in Northeast Ohio area? When will I be able to place a special order or should I expect such vehicles to start showing up on dealer lots in say late January to early February time frame without a special order? Do I correctly understand that expected pricing is 1-2% above current prices, the current $500 incentives will probably not be available, but discounts such as Tread Lightly discounts should remain intact? Any related information or advise on how to obtain 2014 asap with good pricing would be welcomed.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The ordering banks don't open until Jan 9th and production isn't slated to start until late January. I believe Milous stated long ago that Mineral Gray is not an option for the MY14. We haven't heard anything about pricing or incentives for the new vehicles yet. Hope this helps

Also, Welcome to JeepGarage!!

Hmmm.. Looks like you're an even cleverER mind. Lol.. If you guys go back a few pages you'll see that this has been vaguely hinted at. Gonna do a lil' more research and try to gather some specifics at to what models will get what. But to be clear, yes, there are different headlamp designs. Which justifies them NOT changing shape of the molding where the aforementioned "washer cover" is for models NOT equipped with that system.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

so they have 2 different headlamps shapes for a headlight washer system on the HID's? Still not buying it. JEEP has NEVER had 2 different headlamp shapes on a Grand Cherokee!

That certainly is interesting!

There are several countries that require washers by law if the vehicle is equipped with HIDs/LEDs - so I guess the only question was where to put them.

I'm not an engineer but perhaps the re-design of the front bumper forced them to move the spot they previously used and although the development of two different headlamp-units is everything but cheap, it might have been the only option. We have to keep in mind that the the area right under the headlights on the MY14 is now basically a part of the grille - and I'm sure they wanted to avoid the integration of the washers into that part. Swapping a grille should be simple and not involve any other technology/moving parts.

And perhaps all areas below that part might have been too far away to cover the entire headlight-surface by a washer system.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

well...2 grilles or 2 headlights? Seems to me 2 different grilles wouldve been cheaper then developing and manufacturing two different headlamps. Is Dailmer back in charge at ChryCo?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Not exectly the reply I was hoping for but yes it helps - Thanks. So based upon the earliest possible date for me to place a special order (1/9) can you ( or anyone else) estimate a delivery date (is late Feb or early March overly optimistic)?
