Let me say first that I am a chiropractor with a previous career in sports medicine/athletic training as well as an EMT so I am very familiar with head trauma and whiplash injuries and how they affect the spine and brain. As you can tell from my avatar, I also have been involved in a huge wreck so I feel your pain with the vehicle as well as your aches & pains that are sure to appear in the next day or two.

Just so you know, it is VERY common to still have concussion and post-concussion syndrome after an accident like yours even if you don't hit your head (headaches, poor concentration, mood changes, sensitivity to light, dizziness, nausea, visual and hearing changes, difficulty sleeping, fatigue, etc...) What happens mostly with concussions is that your brain, which is bathed in fluid (CSF not DEF) gets thrown across the inside of your skull riding a wave. As it reaches the other side it smashes into the skull bones and all their little bony pointy parts. These pointy parts can cause damage. It then rides the wave back and then bashes into the opposite side potentially causing further damage. Feel free to PM me and we can discuss this more privately if you would like.

In addition, your insurance will cover your medical costs so don't hesitate getting checked out by the ER (checking for internal bleeding, etc...) or your regular MD or your chiropractor. For insurance purposes it is so much easier if you get checked out right away and have everything on record. If you wait a few weeks or months and start getting pain because you've tightened up and now everything is compensating for the initial strain your insurance company can easily deny your medical claims. Then you're having pain, you can't work because of the pain/numbness/tingling/weakness...and that means you can't build me my Jeep!

Please get checked out first and I highly recommend you to see a GOOD chiropractor who can help you with proper nutrition along with a massage therapist and even an acupuncturist to get your body healing from the trauma so that the injury pattern doesn't become chronic.

Also, my last recommendation is to stay away from any alcohol for at least a month (top neurologists recommend a year after having a concussion) Even if you might not be having any concussion symptoms, your brain has taken a beating and those cells and tissues that are damaged are extremely sensitive to alcohol and it could make things worse. Sorry dude, you're going to have to give all your beer away to the rest of the crew.

I've always thought that once someone starts driving a mini-van they turn into a shitty driver! Damn mini-vans!
I woke up today feeling *better*, but not perfect, I started to feel abnormal by the time I went to sleep. I woke up to go to the bathroom and I felt a bit stiff. I will likely end up taking a trip to the hospital today if things do not continue to normalize. This also isn't my first wreck. I felt TERRIBLE from the get-go when I got rearended in 2002.

The damage to the minivan was caused mostly by my rock rails, I can look at it and tell. Had I not had those and the lift kit, my Jeep would have been worse off, and the minivan wouldn't have looked so bad.

Here's a picture that shows the majority of the damage to the door (none to the rail, go figure?) and the off center axle:

As for the cost of fuel, yeah, Diesel and Normal Unleaded petrol usually have a wide gap (though it's never a set % it seems). I've always compared filling my diesels as being akin to filling my Benz or BMW (Premium)... I just get much higher MPG (My E-Class CRD for instance, wipes the floor with a co-workers E320).

And Marlon, man, that sucks. Glad you are in one piece.

I'll send ya some duct tape and some spackel for the ride.
I think diesel has only been more than gas for the last few years. If I recall it used to be about 75-80% as much. That's one of the reasons I have a diesel truck, because it cost less to operate when I bought it. It's my belief that diesel went up in price with the interest in diesel cars.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Ok.. Here we go. I JUST inspected abt four '14's.. They ALL have the 300 LOOKING lights. I repeat, ALL OF THEM have those lights. (Rather that housing.) So I done some more research. Basically I went around harassing repairmen abt the "other" lights. One told me, "I know what you're talking abt.. Those S0's we're very early pilots built out at CTC, and were thrown together only for testing." (Which is correct.. Again, reference Milous' post.) "They were just brought here for tear down." Me: There were some here a couple days ago tho right? Him: "Possibly.. This place is like a madhouse right now, what time you got, im ready to go?" Lol.. So I asked specifically if that other housing was something to be used, or was it canned? His response, "This headlamp (housing) was still being developed, but they wanted to test the new light (internals) for the Summit and SRT. So no, that probably won't get used."

So.. In a way there was two, but there's really only one. Marlon and myself saw old sh*t, and new sh*t together, and jumped the gun. (Kinda like I do when I haven't had any in a while and she lays it on me.. Hairpin trigger ya know?) So I apologize. As I've said, I got no problem being wrong. Just wanna clear that up. Scott you're a gentleman and a scholar.

Now.. Being that I suck at this whole "tidbit" thing, and have the patience of a 5yr old, I'll give you guys an extra "I'm sorry" piece of info. BOTH the Summit and SRT will recieve the oscillating headlamps we've spoken of. The lights follow your steering. Neat stuff..

Oh and FYI I did all this research off the clock. They quit payin me at 2:30, so I figured I'd go investigate since I wasn't planning on leaving til 5 anyway. Hope this helps.. Again, lets stay on the same page ppl.. We're all in love with the same brand.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

So there won't be a black piece or a gap with these headlights?

No gap.. Yes there's a black piece. The washers behind there. The piece is actually 3 pieces, and the center section comes out.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The summit and SRT will be getting the headlight washers and the rest are getting the black piece, correct???

If you got to see it on the vehicle, did it look good?
