To be honest with you guys most ppl I talk to that are heavily interested in the CRD aren't especially concerned with horsepower and speed. Torque and fuel mileage are their primary concerns. Pulling their toys. Pulling it's own weight. Being able to smoothly power past other drivers while climbing a steep grade, all the while getting excellent fuel mileage is what they want. Anything beyond that in terms of on road performance is just an added bonus, and not really a purchasing concern.
Exactly why I want the CRD. Its main purpose would be to drive 200 miles from sea level going over a 7,700 ft mountain pass 3 to 4 times a month and deal with snow on that drive in the winter. The WJ was getting 13MPG, its current replacement is getting 27MPG but it does not have enough room. Having driven several turbo diesels in Europe, the low RPM torque availability and smooth power delivery coupled with improved mileage is what I look forward to with the CRD.

Scott or Milous...I know Scott posted that the SRT might be getting 17/24, which is great. Any word on what the V6 or Hemi might be getting?

In Australia our top range is the Overland which carries all the features of the Overland Summit in the US. Have I picked up from the clues that the "export" Overland will get....Adaptive headlamps, Washers where the plastic tag is under the headlamps, some still to be announced SRT8 features, QL upgrade and more chrome still to be displayed......and Marlon, how is your recovery going?
You got it..

3.0 CDR
8.2

6.4 SRT hemi V8

So the CDR is quicker than the 5.7 hemi. As I have said in a prior post, the CDR does driver really well.

Note: this info is from the MY12 spec sheet.

that 0-60 is incorrect fpor the hemi...Ive seen like 6.7---7.0 seconds I think

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Those times are what all our brochures/info/dealers have for australia.

Whether they are accurate or not is another thing - but possibly the gearing is different over here or something resulting in less acceleration?

Just spit balling haha

nah....your Jeeps are the same....but those were estimates by ChryCo. I believe Motortrend got a 7.3 0-60. The wk2 haters took that 8.5 number and ran with it

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Ah yeah makes sense. I have only driven the CRD not the V8 so cant compare myself, but was quite suprised to hear that a 260kw/520nm V8 was slower then a 177kw/550nm diesel.

Regardless, the diesel still goes pretty well considering

You're on track.

Recovery is "blah". I'm not a fan of the medication I'm on. I feel so limp it's ridiculous, and my urine is a very interesting color.

But at least I'm not in anymore pain.

Seriously?

That would be a 42% increase in efficiency on the city numbers and 33% increase in efficiency on the highway for the SRT over current figures.

Did they like... make the car out of carbon fibre or something to lighten it?

I would epxect more along the lines of 10%-12% increase in MPG with the new tranny, not 30%+.

That is why I am asking the question. Originally he posted 16/22 and then he heard possibly 17/24.

MPG numbers for both current JGC and the competition for reference. Seems like the CRD should stack up quite well.....

17/24?

I can't see that. But here's a comparison of GCs... and a Dodge Dart thrown in for good measure.
